"Pokemon Scarlet and Violet" latest Teal Mask DLC has caught some fans off guard with new Pokemon releases. For those who regularly read updates from Khu and other notable leakers, this did not come as a surprise.
The new Bloodmoon Ursaluna is one of the greatest mysteries of the expansion of the Generation 9 title, but how can you obtain this elusive Pokemon in the game?
Encountering Perrin in Kitakami
Kitakami is a brand-new region outside Paldea. Early speculations revealed that it's part of the Spain-inspired region, but that was not the case when the Teal Mask DLC dropped. It's somewhat between Johto and Sinnoh.
After purchasing the DLC, you can start exploring Kitakami in "Pokemon Scarlet and Violet" so you can search for Perrin. You can find her to the west of the school.
If you have played "Legends Arceus," you can see how similar she looks to Adaman who has a companion, Hisuian Growlithe.
Now for the most exciting part, the Kitakami Pokedex consists of 150 Pokemon. Perrin will challenge you to register all Pokemon in the new Pokedex. This will be easier if you already finished the Paldea Pokedex and if that's the case, you just need to obtain 50 more Pokemon.
If you feel that catching 50 to 150 Pokemon is tiring, you can create your own shortcut by using Quick Balls for the Pokemon you want to catch in Kitakami.

Confronting Perrin and the Bloodmoon Beast
Once you've successfully registered 150 Kitakami Pokémon, prepare to face Perrin in battle. After defeating her two Pokémon, she'll instruct you to meet her in the Timeless Woods. Following a photography session and a conversation, you'll embark on a quest to locate the enigmatic "Bloodmoon Beast."
From here, you will battle the ferocious bear in a familiar scene where you battle the Titans in Paldea. Don't forget that it has a very high HP and regular PokeBalls won't work. Defeat the beast to trigger the catch prompt on the screen. This is the only way to obtain Bloodmoon Ursaluna in "Pokemon Scarlet and Violet'' The Teal Mask DLC.
Remember that Bloodmoon Ursaluna won't evolve from Ursaring as it's an event-exclusive Pokemon. Based on the "Legends Arceus" walkthrough, the Peat Blocks could be used in the future to evolve the Johto Bear into Ursaluna. Apparently, The Pokemon Company has not yet implemented it in "Pokemon Scarlet and DLC."
Regular Ursaluna vs Bloodmoon Ursaluna
They might be two Ursalunas, but they are vastly different from one another. First, the Ursaluna from Hisui (ancient Sinnoh) can evolve from Ursaring. The Bloodmoon Ursaluna is incapable of undergoing a standard evolution phase.
When it comes to stats, the regular Ursaluna has higher HP, Attack, and Special Defense, making it an ideal Physical Sweeper. However, the Bloodmoon variant is more of a Special Attacker. It has higher Defense, Special Attack, and Speed than the former.
Finally, the regular Ursaluna can use either one of three abilities: Guts, Bulletproof, and Unnerve.
On the other hand, the Kitakami beast has an exclusive ability called "Mind's Eye." This means that the Bloodmoon Ursaluna can't have its accuracy reduced during battle. On top of that, it can hit Ghost-type Pokemon with Normal and Fighting-type attacks.
