Celebrating 10 Years With 'Grand Theft Auto V'

Rockstar Games expressed their gratitude to fans, acknowledging them as the driving force behind Grand Theft Auto V's continued success, spanning multiple console generations. Rockstar's recent announcement marked the anniversary with exciting updates for GTA Online.

The Verge reported that this includes fresh attire options, GTA V-inspired weapon finishes, additional gameplay modes, an exclusive stock car known as the Bravado Hotring Hellfire for GTA+ members, and various collectibles and bonuses.

"As Grand Theft Auto V turns 10 this coming Sunday, we would like to thank you, our players, for your incredible support over the years. A massive thank you to anyone who has ever played, streamed, roleplayed, created, or shared from the world of Los Santos and Blaine County!" Rockstar noted.

However, Rockstar chose not to unveil any details regarding the highly anticipated "Grand Theft Auto 6" despite confirming its development last year. Regardless of a significant leak of 90 minutes of in-game footage and the game's source code, substantial information about the title remains elusive.

In a recent update, Rockstar revealed a collaboration with the mod development team Cfx.re to bolster support for their roleplay servers. GTA 6 could arrive earlier than anticipated, with speculations in the gaming community hinting at its release during the upcoming fiscal year.

Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar, had previously disclosed its expectation of a revenue boost for the fiscal year 2025, spanning from April 2024 to March 2025.

This timeframe has garnered attention from both gaming enthusiasts and industry analysts, who speculate that it might align with the potential launch of "Grand Theft Auto V."

Looking Back

Sky News reported that "Grand Theft Auto V," the quickest entertainment product to reach the $1 billion milestone, has become the most lucrative creation ever, having sold an astounding 185 million copies and generating a reported revenue of $8 billion for its publisher, Take-Two.

However, despite the game's unprecedented achievements, a lot has happened since its release, including 25 Marvel Cinematic Universe films, the tenure of five British prime ministers, two Olympic Games, and a worldwide pandemic. Yet fans are still eagerly awaiting news of the next installment.

The franchise's leap into three-dimensional gaming on the PlayStation 2 marked a significant turning point for its developer, sparking political debates over violence in video games.

The inaugural title with a fully open-world map called GTA III emerged as the top-selling game in 2001. Swiftly following sequels, Vice City (2002) and San Andreas (2004) achieved even greater triumphs, with the latter selling a staggering 27 million copies.
