Stalker 2 to Face Another Delay? Reports Claim Prague Office Damaged in Fire Incident

GSC Game World is yet to catch a break.

Reports claim a significant unfortunate incident struck Stalker 2's development, and this is because of a fire incident where its developer's, GSC Game World, Prague office has received damage. This incident may be another reason for a further delay of the game, with it already facing massive controversies in the gaming industry, including its rampant delays.

As the studio is looking to repair the damages that their office suffered, news about the game's delay remains unknown, as the company has not claimed anything about this yet.

A Czech news outlet called Vortex has recently reported a massive catastrophe that fell upon GSC Game World's office in Prague, Czech Republic, with a fire incident damaging its headquarters. GSC Game World is best known for its development of the Stalker franchise, with the Xbox and Windows PC exclusive game's fate hanging in the balance.

It was also revealed by HazzadorGamin via his X post that this led to as much as 1.5 million crowns of damages, estimated to be around $70,000.

GSC Game World's Prague headquarters have three floors and only the most important floor with the backup servers of the company was severely damaged, with the other two remaining unaffected. Fortunately, there were no casualties or injuries to the employees present.

The fire broke out because of an electrical installation, says the report.

Will this Recent Fire Incident Mean a Delay for Stalker 2?

According to the developers, the game's production and other projects would continue, saying "We've dealt with worse than that before."

For now, it is expected that GSC Game World will recuperate from this incident and fix the damages, but it has not revealed if this would mean a delay for the highly anticipated Stalker 2 game. Its website claims the same release date for Q1 of 2024.

Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl

Back in 2020, there was a massive update to the development of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl, as the developers claimed that it would be developed under the Unreal Engine, soon featuring its iconic graphics for the game. To date, it has been a massive deal what engine developers use when creating a game, with Unreal Engine 5 being among the top tiers.

Massive hype was in place for Stalker 2, the sequel to the original one released last 2007, with fans already waiting for as much as 13 years for the game now.

It was initially revealed that GSC Game World would incorporate NFTs that would allow gamers to create their NPCs, but it was later canceled due to the dismay of fans.

Now, the fans and enthusiasts of the title are not asking for much from the developers on this game, only to release the game after more than a decade's wait for it. However, that time could not have gone any faster, as if it were not for the recent Russia-Ukraine conflict; an unfortunate incident has yet again struck its production, and remains unknown if this recent fire damage will delay Stalker 2 yet again.
