Pixel Bug Is Pestering Users to Setup ‘Hey Google’ Quick Phrases—Is There a Fix?

A new bug is affecting the Google Assistant on Pixel devices.

A new Pixel bug appeared for smartphone owners with a persistent pop-up that asks to set up Assistant quick phrases for voice commands, a feature that would let them skip using "Hey Google" for the device to adhere.

Here, the system shows a pop-up bug that will give users the bypass to say the company's name despite being turned on or set up before and not disappearing despite already being used.

Quick phrases have been a significant addition to Google, allowing users to experience a smarter AI assistant that no longer needs a prompt to take effect.

Pixel Bug Pesters Users to Set-Up Quick Phrase

Have you come across this annoying bug on the Pixel already? The "Hey Google" Quick Phrase prompt appears on the user's notification panel via the Google app.

According to 9to5 Google, it has been sending users this notice to turn it on, with reported cases stretching to devices as old as the Pixel 6, and it is an annoying occurrence for the Android 13 and 14 builds.

Reported cases claimed that this feature appears daily on the users' notifications window and would appear some time again, even after swiping it away or heading to the settings of the smartphone.

However, it differs for each user, as some reports claimed that on Pixel 7 running Android 13, it has only appeared once and never came back.

'Hey Google': Will This Get a Fix?

According to 9to5 Google, the bug is prominent on the Google app, which is in beta version 14.36, with the company not yet addressing anything regarding the issue.

For now, it is expected that Google will fix it in future updates of its app, but currently, the Mountain View-based tech giant has yet to acknowledge the issue.

Google's Pixel Development

Pixel is now on its way to delivering its eight-generation release with the Pixel 8, which was unveiled ahead of the iPhone 15 after a massive leak by its team due to a marketing incident in the past two weeks.

Afterward, Google officially introduced the new Pixel smartphone to the world, with almost the same looks as the previous version, but promises massive improvements.

Some leaks claimed this Pixel 8 series would be more expensive than last year's release, with a French leaker reporting about the prices they spotted. Google will reportedly offer the Pixel for as much as $200 more than its 2022 price, but the report did not indicate why there are price hikes for the Pixel 8 and only said that this was the expected price for the European regions.

Google is expected to improve more of the Android operating system now as the Pixel 8 was already confirmed and coming soon for all. However, this recent bug on the Pixel smartphones is plaguing users, with the Hey Google bypass popping up despite using it already.
