Did Nintendo Just Demo Switch 2 Recently? Here's What Allegedly Happened at Gamescom 2023

Ahead of its alleged release in 2024, Nintendo has already demoed Switch 2 to some devs at Gamescom 2023.

Nintendo Switch 2 rumors are never-ending as leakers expose the possible price and specs of the upcoming console.

The latest scoop by Eurogamer reveals that the company has "secretly" demoed the gaming machine to the devs at Gamescom 2023.

Is it really coming next year after hearing this report?

Eurogamer reports that the demo in Cologne last month showed "Zelda: Breath of the Wild" for Switch 2. Originally, it was exclusive to the first Switch version.

The behind-the-scenes surprise has shocked many fans into believing that there will be a Switch 2 in 2024. For them, the rumors are already over because it's really coming sooner.

Eurogamer clarifies that the demo that recently took place was just a "tech demo." However, it was not mentioned if "Zelda: BOTW" will be re-released for Switch 2.

Another mysterious report from VGC supports Eurogamer's first report. This time, the former found that Nintendo has run a tech demo for "The Matrix Awakens" under Epic's Unreal Engine 5.

Upon imagining the demo at first look, we could conclude that Nintendo has an interest in Nvidia's DLSS upscaling technology.

What's more, VGC says that the game operates smoothly as if you're playing a PS5 or Xbox Series-exclusive title.

Nintendo Will Retain Portability on Switch 2

In another story, IGN writes that Switch 2 will be available in portable mode, the same way that the current Switch version is on.

To decrease its prices, Nintendo will allegedly use LCD screens instead of OLED. This particular news has left a mixed reaction from fans who are hoping to see games on high-quality display.

As a matter of fact, players are wondering if backward compatibility will be present on Switch's successor. The company has not yet confirmed this.

Will See Nintendo Focus Instead of Switch 2?

Back in August, Tech Times saw a fresh leak from Jonathan Bark, an X user who suddenly appeared out of nowhere.

According to the tech publication, the unverified tipster claimed that Nintendo will drop the "Switch" brand and instead use "Nintendo Focus."

For Bark, the Big N will roll out new virtual reality (VR) features for the rumored gaming console. While it sounds promising, we can't conclude if this is really coming in 2024.

Bark also adds that some of the Focus-exclusive games that will grace the platform include "Relno Ramen Warrior," "Mario Kart 9," F-Zero Titans," and "Arms 2."

No DLC For Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Before we get excited about Switch 2, it's time to lament about Nintendo's decision to ditch DLC for "The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom."

The recent report suggests that Nintendo's boss has no plans to release downloadable content for BOTW's new installment.

Since this is already confirmed, maybe the company is gearing up to launch a new Zelda title for Switch 2.
