Nintendo Confirms "The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom" Will Not Have DLC

Zelda's boss rules out the possibility of adding DLC for TOTK.

"The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom" won't include any DLC in the next update, according to Nintendo.

This unexpected turn of events has shocked many fans who have been anticipating the inclusion of Master Mode or any downloadable content on "Breath of the Wild's" successor.

"The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom" won't have a follow-up downloadable content, as Nintendo said in the latest interview. Nintendo

In an interview with Famitsu, Eiji Aonuma, the producer of Zelda says that Nintendo has no plans for "Tears of the Kingdom" DLC.

Aonuma suggests that the next Zelda title could return to the "same world" once again through a sequel or any "new" game."

"In the first place, the reason why we chose this time as a sequel to the previous game is because we thought there would be value in experiencing a new kind of play in that place in Hyrule. Then, if such a reason is newly born, it may return to the same world again," he said.

TOTK's director Hidemaro Fujibayashi shares his sentiments with Aonuma. He only mentioned that the team is currently brainstorming" to bring a "next fun experience" for the Zelda franchise.

To keep the hopes of the fans, Aonuma only said that the successor of "Tears of the Kingdom" will feature a new way to play the game.

Is the End of Era for 'Tears of the Kingdom?'

"Tears of the Kingdom" made a spectacular debut earlier this year, boasting record-breaking sales. Fans had naturally anticipated additional content, especially considering the success of its predecessor, "Breath of the Wild," which received two substantial post-launch DLCs.

However, Nintendo's ambitious lineup for the Nintendo Switch, featuring titles like Super Mario Bros. Wonder, a new WarioWare, Super Mario RPG, Luigi's Mansion 2, and a Princess Peach game, leaves little room for immediate expansion, per Eurogamer.

The rumored launch of Nintendo Switch 2 could potentially lower the chance for fans to see a TOTK DLC. With new titles slated to debut in this new handheld, it's reasonable why Nintendo won't push through adding other content into the game anymore.

Speaking of which, the latest leak revealed that Switch 2 will be as powerful as Sony's PS5. If that's the case, then we could see more high-quality games on a newer screen.

Somehow, Switch gamers always wish to run games smoother and faster than usual. Maybe this is already a dream come true for fans who are craving to see 60fps gaming on a handheld platform.

Another Switch 2 leak suggests that this gaming machine will be the most expensive among all Nintendo consoles. A reputable tipster said that it will be launched at $399, $100 more expensive than the 2017 Switch.

While this is reasonable, replacing LCD instead of OLED might not be appealing to users since this is a straight downgrade on the display.
