Google really wants us to buy Moto X: Here's why

Are you a Motorola fan? If the answer is yes, then you're in luck as Google has taken steps to further reduce the price of Moto X, including launching a special promotion for the smartphone, which ran for just one hour on Monday, Jan. 27.

On Monday, Google offered the popular Android-powered smartphone for $100 less than usual. However, this promotion was only valid for off-contract Moto X handsets and had a one hour time window.

"Xtra sweet deal alert: Jan 27 3-4PM ET $100 off any #MotoX w/o contract while supplies last...," per the Motorola tweet.

In case you missed the 1-hour Monday promotion, you have another sale you can take advantage of which will be ongoing till Valentine's Day and entitles you to a $70 discount on the Moto X.

Google launched the 5-inch Moto X in August 2013 and in this span the smartphone has seen several discounts and price drops. Earlier in January this year, the price of the Moto X without contract on any carrier was permanently reduced to $399. Google seems to be marketing the smartphone aggressively if the price cuts are any indicators and really wants customers to purchase the Moto X over other competing handsets.
