A lot of companies are still focusing on offering and coming up with the best OLED TVs but it seems like TCL is taking a different approach. By taking a different route, the new TVs by TCL were able to dominate these OLED screens by achieving a significant new trait.
The TCL X955 is Going to be a 98-Inch Screen Which Comes Up to 100,000 Hours of Screen Time
According to the story by Tom's Guide, certain companies like Samsung, LG, and even Sony are all going heavy when it comes to OLED TV technology. On the other hand, TCL was focusing more on mini-LEDs, taking this technology to the next level with the launch of its new flagship TV.
The new TCL TV made its debut recently during the IFA 2023 and offered an unbelievable 5,000 nits of brightness. It was noted that the TV was also paired with over 5,000 local dimming zones as part of its offerings.
It was noted that these specs were made available for TCL's 98-inch TV screen which is said to provide around 100,000 screen time hours. However, this number might fluctuate depending on how much the TV will be used.
The Device Comes with an Expected 210% Increase Compared to Previous Flagship TVs of TCL
As seen on What Hi-Fi?, it was noted that TCL notes that the X955 will come with a 27.5% increase when it comes to brightness. The device would also come with a 33% increase when it comes to viewing angles as well as a 210% increase when it comes to light control precision when compared to the previous flagship TVs of TCL.
However, despite the promising launch of the new TV screen, it was noted that the device still missed out on two important details, its price as well as release date. It was also noted that this particular TV screen would be launching alongside other units like the C955 and C805.
It was also noted that the new TV screen was going to be an exclusive European model. The QD-Mini LED is actually the same as the Mini-LED TV but comes with a quantum dot filter which is the same as the Neo QLED TVs by Samsung and QNED TVs by LG.
The Screen Launches Ahead of the Completion of Sony's 10,000 Nit Prototype TV
It was also noted that the IFA will be the first ever TV that's commercially available to launch with 5,000 nits and contrast control zones of over 5,000. It was also noted that this was close to Sony's prototype TV which was teased at the CES back in 2019 which was still unheard of.
Sony's TV was supposed to come with a display of 10,000 nits but the company said it would take a decade for them to be able to enter the large-scale production phase. Five years later, TCL has already launched the 5,000 nit screen, the TCL X955 premium QD-Mini LED 4K TV, which is getting ready to deliver in Europe.
