Nautilus 45 'Search Everywhere' Button Added for Better Search Scope Expansion

Find out more about the Nautilus 45 additions.

The GNOME 45 Nautilus has gotten a new boost when it comes to its search performance that's capable of supporting different things like web page images as well as different files. It was noted that the device comes with a Grid View that allows users to see their starred files and others.

45 Nautilus Comes with a Simplistic Definition of the Window Keyboard Shortcut and More

According to the story by 9to5Linux, the new abilities also come with a way for users to show bytes sizes when it comes to the folder properties. Aside from that, users will be getting a more adaptive design that can be spotted on the sidebar.

It was also noted that while sandboxing, users would also get a better file-opening experience. This would be applicable to certain applications like Snap or Flatpak.

Users will also be getting better data and time format with the new update making sure it stays more consistent. The 45 Nautilus also comes with a more simplistic definition of the window Keyboard Shortcuts, which gives users the ability to refocus the search bar with the help of the Ctrl+F keyboard shortcut making it easier for users to utilize.

The Sidebar for this Particular Offering is Called 'Places'

While the features were already impressive, there are additional improvements added with the Nautilus like the "Search Everywhere" button that allows users to get a larger search scope. As reported by OMG Linux, the latest build would support the split-header bar look in the file manager.

Aside from the expanded search scope, users would also get a modern full-height sidebar layout that also packs refined sidebar sizing as well as a folding threshold. When it comes to the top tab, users can reportedly see that it has been minimized so users are able to see the full height of the sidebar.

While often known as a sidebar for Windows or other OS users, it now actually has its own name, Places, while the three-dot menu as seen on the side to the right has disappeared. The three-dot menu wasn't removed but was instead changed to a hamburger menu on Places.

The GNOME 45 Carries Out Auto-Delete Functions

It was also noted that the new features come with some performance improvements allowing users to create multiple types of thumbnails. Another feature would allow users to easily transition into and from search, making it easier for them whenever they are trying to avoid DBus-activating certain apps.

Aside from that, the Nautilus file manager as seen in the GNOME 45 will reportedly carry out a function that automatically deletes certain partially copied files. This happens whenever the user decides to cancel when they are copying certain things.

So far, fans can check out the GNOME 45 as seen in its public beta testing but it's important to try out the second beta release to ensure that the user gets the more updated specifications. According to The Register, GNOME 45 has graduated from alpha to beta test.
