Reddit has officially unveiled a mod-focused program that will reward helpful moderators for their craft.
Amid the controversial plight that mods experience in the platform, the "Mod Helper Program," a new karma-based system will give trophies and flairs on r/ModSupport.
Reddit Mod Helper Program
As Reddit suffered from controversy for the past two months, the platform wants to gradually get back on track and reward mods for their efforts.
Following the outage that hit Reddit and made subreddits go "dark," the front page of the internet has recently rolled out a mod-centered program.
According to Gizmodo, moderators who contribute a lot to the communities will be rewarded with flairs and trophies. Their karma points will go up or down depending on their behavior (upvotes and downvotes).
A Reddit user will immediately recognize and conclude that you are the right person to ask questions for based on your rank. From Helper to Expert Helper, every comment you write on the discussion thread will accrue karma.
"Reddit can be a complex place for newbie and expert Mods alike, and the knowledge that you share with each other here is incredibly powerful," Reddit admins posted in r/ModSupport.
They added that the Mod Helper Program aims to celebrate the efforts of the moderators across the platform. It's also created to foster the culture within the communities where everyone learns from one another.
As per CookiesNomNom, the moderator's profiles will be updated by October 2023. The updates for trophies will take place once a month.
Meanwhile, the karma-based system lists that there are five tiers of trophies including Level 1 trophy (100 karma), Level trophy (250 karma), Level 3 trophy (500 karma), Level 4 trophy (750 karma, and Level 5 trophy (1,000 karma).

Redditos Demand 'Real Rewards' From Admins
In r/ModSupport, some users suggest that the platform should give the mods the "actual help" they need.
MapleSurpy wrote that they asked for the ban evasion so they could detect the intent of the linked username to see if it's working on their end. The commenter added that they only got another automated system and flair rewards.
While some opposed Reddit's new program for moderators, others praised the admin for rolling out the system.
One person said that this is a great way to make the community safer from lurkers and people who interact negatively with the subreddits.
Reddit Modmail Answer Bot
In another story by TechCrunch, Reddit also brings the ModMail Answer Bot which will answer all the queries of people to the Help Center.
In case, it fails to respond to a specific request, a human admin will create a ticket for the special case. This will make the load for the admin team lighter while they focus on more complicated concerns.
