The French acquisition of Atari, now Atari SA, has given the world promising developments for the retro gaming experience, as after it released a cartridge earlier this year, is now re-releasing a modern version of the Atari 2600. This new console is called the Atari 2600+, and this is the modern take on the renowned console of the late 1970s, featuring current-gen features to play in today's technology.
Atari 2600+: A Modern Take on the Classic Console
Atari has announced the arrival of its modern take on the classic gaming console which it first released in 1977, with the Atari VCS (Video Computer System), also known as the 2600, seeing a revamp for the present day. Enter the Atari 2600+, a retro gaming console that was made available through its collaboration with Plaion to revamp the retro home console.
The 2600+ is the modern version of this famed gaming console, featuring its iconic black and brown body and also the revamped CX40+ wired joystick.
The modern retro console is now available for preorders, and this will set gamers $129.99 for the purchase of the console alone. The first shipments would arrive by November for all prepurchased devices.
Its iconic feature is the modern connections it features, including HDMI for modern monitors and TVs to play on, as well as USB-C for its power needs. The 2600+ consoles already come with one CX40+ joystick and a 10-in-1 game cartridge that features the likes of Adventure, Missile Command, Yars' Revenge, and more.

Atari Retro Cartridges for Present-Day Gaming
The iconic thing with the new 2600+ is that it can play the old Atari game cartridges on this modern console, one that does not require gamers to buy the re-released titles from the company.
If one controller is not enough, there is also a separately sold CX40+ joystick from Atari which features the original size of its red fire button and a directional ring for $24.99. There is also the CX30+ paddle controller bundle available, also bringing back the retro experience that differs from the joystick, coming with a 4-in-1 game cartridge for $39.99.
Atari's Legacy in the Gaming Industry
Reviving the good old days is not as hard, especially in today's technology and companies that offer to bring retro gaming back to the scene, with Nintendo being one of the frontrunners with the Switch Online's offers, including the Expansion Pack's old-gen consoles and titles.
However, Nintendo is not the only one that is looking to bring back its consoles in this modern gaming experience.
Several companies have attempted to bring Atari back into the spotlight, with one massive move in 2018 where they offered their retro VCS made available to purchase.
Its fame in the early days of gaming has cemented its legacy in the industry, with modern takes on its experience seen throughout, and also arrived for the automotive industry, with Tesla adding Atari games to its infotainment system.
Atari, for one, is a part of this major revamp to the world's retro gaming experience in the present days, with a full-fledged Atari 2600+ coming soon to bring the console to play all retro cartridges still around.
