Google Wear OS 2 Watches Could be Losing Their Assistant Support with the Addition of the Version 2.65.11.552438494

According to the story by 9to5Google, Google will be pulling back when it comes to Assistant support for the older Wear OS 2 watches. This encourages users to upgrade their devices to the newer Wear OS 3 and newer models.

The Wear OS champion app version 2.65.11.552438494 is expected to roll out with the addition of new features. The rollout of the new version also gave confirmation that Google Watch support for the watch was expected to end soon while users were urged to upgrade to a newer device.

'Google Assistant Support Ending' was Spotted as Part of the Script Confirming Future Actions

The specific string said "assistant_shutdown_notification_title" with the specific line that says "Google Assistant support ending" which could be seen as confirmation that Google would indeed be pulling back support.

The app is specifically being utilized by watches that used at least the Wear OS 2 devices or earlier versions. With the addition of the new Wear OS 3, the phone app shifted toward newer OEMs.

Wear OS 2 Powered by Assistant to Get Update from the Google App

On the other hand, the Wear OS 2 is powered by the Assistant and gets its update from the Google app similar to how other phones and tablets with the Android operating system get their updates.

In mid-2022, the new Galaxy Watch 4 was launched before the Pixel Watch and in June, newer Fossil devices were released. The newer devices would require Android 11 and newer operating systems in order for them to enable newer features and abilities.

Voice Commands Given as Part of the App's New Features

The newer operation systems give users multiple voice commands like "set an alarm, start a timer, or even "set reminders." There are also other features that allow users to talk with their friends through the voice command "send a message" and "start a call."

Users can also use their smartwatch to control certain things in their smart home like "turn on bedroom light." The smartwatch can also be used to source answers from the internet with questions like "where is the nearest coffee shop?" or ask simple questions like "ho'w the weather today?"

Wear OS 2 to be Replaced with the Newer Wear OS 3 and 4

So far, there's no official news regarding when the update will be released or when Google will begin the depreciation of Assistant when it comes to the previous Wear OS 2. However, Google Assistant also doesn't work with some other devices.

These include the Sense 2 and Versa 4 after they were made available on previous Fitbit generations. However, the more recent Wear OS 3 and 4 are expected to run much better with improvements aside from just voice interactions.
