One of the massive changes in electric vehicles now is many companies pledging to adopt a new charging standard, and this is with the Tesla NACS, with Fisker announcing their adoption of the charger. This will leverage the company's EVs as available to connect to various Tesla Superchargers and stations that are spread throughout the country and are still expanding.
The California-based startup is joining the likes of various companies that also announced their adoption of the NACS, slowly growing as the customary port for EVs.
Fisker is Adopting the Tesla NACS Chargers
As reported by CNET, Fisker is now confirming its latest changes for its EVs, and this is with the company's announcement of adopting the Tesla NACS chargers for its clean energy vehicles. For now, the company will provide an adapter for its existing use of the CCS chargers to connect to NACS stations, but it would not stay like this for long.
By 2025, Fisker claimed that it would swap out its old input ports that feature the CCS, and bring the NACS port for direct use to their EVs.
In the first quarter of 2025, Fisker EVs would be provided with NACS adapters as part of this significant change from the California-based startup.
EVs from Fisker to Feature the Standard
According to InsideEVs, Fisker has recently unveiled the Ocean, its sole model in the lineup available at the present. However, there are four more variants coming soon for all to enjoy.
While Fisker is rolling out its EVs in the future, those who would see the 2025 timeline would also get the NACS as a native port for charging.
Still, there are no exact announcements yet on which Fisker EV will receive the NACS come this timeline for its change.
North American Charging Standard
The North American Charging Standard, commonly known as the NACS, has been a significant topic throughout this year, and this was because many companies have looked into adopting it for their electric vehicles.
Additionally, this was campaigned by Elon Musk from before to be the next EV charging standard of the North American region, which is now slowly turning into reality.
Companies like General Motors and Ford were among the earliest to announce this massive change, showing the significant adoption of renowned companies to Tesla's charging port.
This was also followed by Volvo, the first European company to do so, and there are talks behind Volkswagen also looking to adopt the NACS.
With the Tesla NACS' growth and increasing popularity to be the next charging standard, a future where electric vehicles share the same stations and inputs is a possibility. Fisker, a fairly new company in the electric vehicle world, is now following the footsteps of larger companies, now centering on the Tesla NACS for its EVs.
