One of the most annoying experiences on Threads is you have no channel to share it directly to, but that changes now as Meta updated the app to have it share directly via Instagram DMs. While this is not yet a direct message to people you want to message, it is worth noting that Threads is still an Instagram app, highlighting this interconnected experience.
That being said, all the direct messages you would conduct would still center on Instagram DMs, with Threads not having its dedicated chat feature.
Threads Now Allow to Share Directly to Instagram DMs
Threads is building up to new features with each passing moment for the company, with CEO Mark Zuckerberg sharing the latest updates on the platform. One of the most useful features here that users were asking for is with the app sharing posts directly to Instagram DMs, having the revamped share feature options available.
It joins the likes of other pictures where the company would provide custom alternative texts for photos and videos, a feature that has been available for many social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, and X.
Alongside this, Zuck also talked about the direct mention button for posts on Threads, now available for users to access with just a tap.
No Chat Feature for Threads, All on Instagram
However, it remains that Threads has no direct chat feature on the platform, and have all of its communication either relayed via the posts or Instagram DMs.
According to Engadget, this new feature is one of the campaigns of Meta to retain more users on the platform, as well as keep engagements alive on the new platform.
Threads, Meta's Text-Based App
The massive surge in search for a new text-based app has caused Threads to be the talk of the world during early July, after facing significant speculations on Meta's new Twitter rival. During this time, Threads found massive popularity, reaching up to 100 million subscribers in less than five days, a significant milestone for the app.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg also thinks that their work on Threads will payoff, considering that it is one of the biggest rivals Twitter has seen for years and not an alternative to the platform. According to the CEO, he believes that Threads will soon surpass 1 billion users globally, a massive feat for the fairly new app in the market.
An early launch for Threads showed how much people wanted to escape X, but it remains to face hardships in its battle for retaining users that use the platform. With its lack of features for now and being a sub-app for Instagram, Threads' sharing features all center on the IG DMs for now, with the company not yet revealing any plans for a chat feature on the platform.
