Capcom has just acquired Swordcanes Studio, a company focusing significantly on 2D and 3D graphics production. The company was famous for working on some of the most popular recent games, including one from Square Enix.
Capcom Recently Acquired Swordcanes Studio by Purchasing All of Its Shares and Now Wholly Owns the Company
According to Niche Gamer, Capcom reportedly purchased Swordcanes Studio by buying all its shares. As of press time, the company wholly owns Swordcanes Studios.
Capcom made the announcement, detailing why they decided to acquire Swordcanes Studio, which recent works include "Final Fantasy XVI," Street Fighter 6," and even "Hi-Fi-RUSH."
As for "Final Fantasy XVI," Swordcanes Studio reportedly worked on its character model production, while for "Street Fighter 6," the studio was in charge of its animation. The studio also worked on the production cooperation of "Hi-Fi RUSH" and rendered works on other titles.
Swordcanes Studio Is Strong When It Comes to 3D Computer Graphics Production Technology
Niche Gamers announced that the strength of Swordcanes comes from its 3D computer graphics production technology for consumer home video game development. Another reason why the studio was being acquired was that they have already previously worked on other major Capcom titles.
It comes as Capcom decided to turn the studio into its very own wholly-owned subsidiary in order for it to increase its developmental and technological capabilities sustainably.
It was also reported that the company would continue to explore the purchase of necessary technological capabilities for them to be able to enhance the game development organization.
Swordcanes Studio Has Experienced With 3D Character Modelling, Animation, and Creation of the Environment
As detailed by Gaming Industry, Swordcanes has huge experience when it comes to 3D character modeling, animation, and even the creation of the environment. The studio contributed significantly to other titles like "Pokemon Snap" and the "Monster Hunter" series.
Capcom's announcement comes with its financial result for the first quarter of its fiscal year. The company's overall net sales were reportedly up 74% to $312 million.

The developer also attributed "Street Fighter 6" and its recent success, which was able to sell two million units within just a month of its release, which happened on June 2.
Previously, Capcom was able to celebrate its very own 40th anniversary and even announced that it could sell about 500 million game titles worldwide.
According to Business Wire, Capcom was founded in 1983 and was able to create hundreds of games, including some popular titles like "Mega Man," "Devil May Cry," "Resident Evil," and "Ace Attorney."
The company is reportedly a leading worldwide developer, publisher, and distributor of interactive entertainment for different platforms.
