Apple's upcoming watchOS 10 update is set to bring exciting changes to the default apps on the Apple Watch, including a new and improved "Weather" app.
Currently, the Weather app provides users with basic information such as the current temperature, sun/cloud cover, and precipitation, which can be cycled through by tapping the center of the screen.
However, according to a report from 9to5Mac, the new watchOS 10 update will introduce a more comprehensive weather app, delivering a wider range of weather metrics right to your wrist.
WatchOS 10 Weather App
Upon opening the updated Weather app on the Apple Watch with watchOS 10, users will be greeted with the "Condition" view, displaying the time, location, current temperature, weather condition, high and low temperatures for the day, UV index, wind speed, and AQI (Air Quality Index).
By swiping up on the screen, users can access the hourly forecast to plan their day accordingly, and a further swipe up reveals the 10-day forecast for better long-term planning.
The new weather app on watchOS 10 will showcase eight different weather metrics that can be accessed by tapping the center of the screen. These metrics include "Condition," "Temperature," "Precipitation," "Wind," "Ultraviolet Index," "Visibility," "Humidity," and "Air Quality Index (AQI)."
Users can easily cycle through these metrics with a simple tap on the screen. To view specific weather data, users can tap the cloud icon on the upper right while tapping the three-line icon on the upper left allows users to switch between cities and view the weather for different locations.
The Weather app from Apple will have a vital function in notifying users about severe weather conditions. In the case of life-threatening weather events such as hurricanes, tornadoes, lightning storms, heavy rain, or tropical storms, the main app screen will show an alert, enabling users to read the entire warning directly on their wrist.
