Elon Musk's X: New Flashing Sign on San Francisco Headquarters is Now Subject to City Investigation

The abrupt change of Twitter to X is a massive controversy.

The change to X is one of the most controversial moves from Elon Musk, and that is not yet enough as they needed to make their new brand known by installing a flashing sign of the company's new logo on top of its San Francisco HQ. Surely, it caught the attention of the general public, but it is also now subjected to a city investigation.

Musk and the team made a swift change from Twitter to X, immediately changing Twitter's bird logo, as well as the website's loading page that puts the single letter in the middle.

The Associated Press reported that X is now facing a city investigation on its new flashing sign that was installed atop its San Francisco headquarters, flaunting its new logo. The investigation started last week after the company failed to secure a permit for the new signage, with the city citing that it failed to obtain the permit for the required design and safety protocols.

According to USA Today, Patrick Hannan, spokesperson for the Department of Building Inspection said that a permit is needed to ensure "consistency with the historic nature of the building." The city also cited that this permit will make sure that the sign is safely attached to the building.

Since Musk and the team added the design on top of the building, it also requires another permit for it, unlike Twitter's previous sign on the side of the headquarters.

San Francisco Headquarter's New X Signage

Last Monday also saw X running into some problems with the police about its old signage.

The law enforcement officials stopped the workers removing the Twitter sign as the sidewalk was not closed and the items may fall onto pedestrians walking in the area.

Over the weekend, Mr. Tweet (or Mr. X?) shared a video of the varying lights of the new X sign atop its San Francisco headquarters, establishing its change further.

Twitter's Change to X

X has been the future of Twitter since Chief Tweet first announced his plans to buy Twitter from the board, turning the company into a private entity.

With it going private, Musk has all the power to effect what he wants on the platform, even as far as changing the almost 20-year brand into whatever he wants, including the minimalist X.

A lot has happened in the past week, one of which saw the abrupt removal of Larry the Bird (yes it has a name), Twitter's famed mascot and logo. The change happened fast, as at first, Musk was only asking for a logo suggestion from fans, and when the owner got what he wanted, changed it immediately for the Twitter account's display photo and site logo.

Of course, it got mixed reactions from the social media users of the platform, especially as this was not what they were using Twitter for, now steering away from what it originally offered.

To add salt to the wound, Musk, and the team put up a flashing sign that boasts of "X," its new character logo, which did not obtain the right permit for its installation.
