Russia's New Sleeper Drone 'Joker' Can Hibernate for Long Periods and Be Activated When It's Time to Attack

A new drone called the "Joker" is set to strengthen Russia's attack and defense powers.

A new drone called the "Joker" is set to strengthen Russia's attack and defense powers with its unique feature that can hibernate and stand idle for long periods but be readily available when it is time to strike.

The "Joker" drone is a sleeper that awaits the command of the Russian military and is designed to stay on the down low to avoid detection.

This advanced and powerful drone is now a significant threat to Russia's enemies, particularly Ukraine. It can stay hidden for a long time and attack when needed.

Russia Unveiled Its Latest Sleeper Drone, the 'Joker'

The Russian news outlet, TASS, reported about the latest technology in the country's arsenal, unveiling the "Joker" sleeper drone's significant capabilities in today's warfare.

According to the outlet, this drone was developed by the Central Design Bureau, which created a tool for hibernating First Person View (FPV) drones for their "Joker" line.

The top model of this drone line, called the Ultimatum, is useful for carrying out mass casualty attacks. These drones with a hibernator can take a position for an attack and go into hibernation for several weeks.

Dmitry Kuzyakin, director general of the Center for Integrated Unmanned Solutions, told TASS that a sleeping drone on the air "does not manifest itself in any way." Undetectable, it can deter electronic countermeasures and fly freely, waiting for its command to strike.

Hibernate for Long Periods, Attack When Needed

According to Interesting Engineering, the drone's capabilities are not hindered despite using power to fly for long periods during hibernation. Whenever the military needs it, a command could send the flying drones to enemies and deal with its capabilities to complete the attack.

"When the time comes, he does not need to overcome the distance for the target. The drone is already in place, and [it needs] to turn on and attack," Kuzyakin noted.

Kuzyakin said one FPV operator could "wake up" as many as 15 "sleeping' drones" at any time.

Russia's Power and Military

Despite being cut off from the world, Russia has managed to develop significant power for its needs and efforts towards the conflict against its neighbor, Ukraine.

However, Russia's power and military are not only aimed at the Ukrainians, as it was also reported that it harasses NATO forces over Syria and other countries.

With its long and grueling conflict against Ukraine, the aggression is still ongoing, including its recent attack on the longest-range missile, Storm Shadow, which belonged to the United Kingdom and was given to Ukraine.

While the missile was destroyed, it contained a significant amount of parts that survived the crash and is now in possession of Russians.

Over the years, Russia has struggled to get its hands on good tech, and with many countries already ending their relationship with Moscow, the Eurasian country got creative and innovative with its work.

Now, a new drone is in place that could boost Russia's capabilities in this conflict against Ukraine and the world, with the "Joker" being hard to detect and can strike anytime.
