Amazon Brings New Page Dedicated to Sharing Recalls, Unsafe Products to its Customers

Should it be named "Amazon Cares"?

"Buy at your own risk" are what most e-commerce companies have enforced for a long time, as while they are responsible for distributing it, they remain a middle-person from the seller to its buyer. However, this changes now with Amazon bringing a new dedicated page that will tell users what they need to know about this product if it was previously recalled or marked as unsafe.

Reviews and ratings have always been the basis for checking if a product is worth purchasing, but not all are accurate, with this new page dedicated to being of help to its customers.

Amazon: New Page Dedicated to Sharing Facts About a Product

Amazon announced its latest addition to its e-commerce platform that aims to share facts about products, more importantly, if it was previously recalled or marked unsafe by regulators or organizations. This is a dedicated page on Amazon's platforms that gives users background on the said item, providing users with a "Your Recalls and Product Safety Alerts" page.

The company said that this will alert users whenever purchasing a product in the Amazon Store that has been marked for its previous scrutinies or issues.

Awareness is the goal of Amazon, and whenever there was a recall for a certain product or a product safety alert was raised, it will also go into users' notifications for their knowledge.

Recalls, Unsafe Products to Shed Light for Customers

Amazon claimed that it will send an email and bring an alert banner for customers on top of the "Your Orders" page to make them aware of that said item.

However, this would only come whenever a customer already purchased the product from the store, but would not appear when a user is only previewing it on the e-commerce platform or when adding it to the cart.

The company promised that in light of recalls, it will contact customers directly and advise them of the steps to take for returning the item instead of relying on third-party websites.

Amazon and its e-Commerce Platform

For the past years, fake reviews piled up on e-commerce platforms such as Amazon, and the company is not taking any more of it as it does not only drive malicious product ratings but also harms customers in the long run. The key to ranking high on Amazon is fake reviews, but the company is now cracking down on this form of misinformation, with lawsuits now seeking those who enforce this on the platform.

However, it is not only Amazon that is done with the fake reviews left on its platform. The FTC is also cracking down against fake reviews and influencer marketing that tend to brainwash customers into thinking that this is legitimate or it brings significant effects to a person.

Now, the company is taking a proactive approach to protecting its customers further with its new page, dedicated to telling them what they need to know about certain product that is still available, but may be harmful or bring further problems to consumers.
