One of the most controversial changes over the past week is Twitter's rebrand to "X," and almost everything has changed, like the name and logo of the company, but not its official handle which remains "@Twitter." This is because there is still a user who holds on to the "@x" handle, with his account nearing 20 years since it was made.
With that being said, the username owner revealed that he still did not receive any notifications from Elon Musk and the team regarding asking for the user to push for its X rebrand.
User with the '@x' Handle Reveals He Received Nothing from Twitter
Mashable reported that it contacted the account owner of the "@x" handle on Twitter, which revealed it was Gene X. Hwang, co-founder of Orange Photography. He is the known rightful owner of the @x account on Twitter and held this handle for a grueling 16 years, and it was during the early days of the platform from Jack Dorsey.
The @x handle claims that it joined Twitter in March 2007, and it has stood a lot over the past years, bearing witness to two pandemics, three CEO changes on Twitter, and all the scrutinies it faced.
Nearing 20 years by 2027, it also bore witness to Twitter's rebrand to X, and this is something of a concern as the private account claims he has not yet been contacted by the company or its owner regarding the username.

Elon Musk, Twitter Not Pushing for 'X' Rebrand Fully?
Hwang said to Mashable that he is "keeping an eye out on DMs" or other potential contacts from Twitter regarding a discussion about the @x handle now that Twitter is rebranding to X.
For now, it remains unknown, and Twitter seems to be stuck on changing its display and cover photo, as well as its account's name to X, but not its username, similar to what bots and spam accounts did before.
Elon Musk and Twitter's X Plans
When Elon Musk finally announced that he is buying Twitter amidst the massive controversy and looming court battle for the acquisition, he also revealed that he is doing this for the "X" app. However, in those early days, there are no information about "X," a.k.a. Musk's dream for social media, only that it would be "everything."
Musk and Twitter already laid the groundwork for X, with the company creating "X.ai" as per its business records, one that will focus on better artificial intelligence developments compared to what is available now.
Now, many things have unfolded in Musk's plans for X, with Twitter already seeing a significant revamp that changed the platform's logo and brand.
With Twitter's commitment and obvious changes for X, there is one thing in question now, and that is the "@x" user handle owned by Hwang, who is still not yet contacted by Twitter regarding this change. It remains unknown if Twitter would still be using its original handle as it transitions to the X brand, but with all that's changed, it may be going all out for its future.
