Bizarre and random videos can be found on one's FYP, but one of the most intriguing trends now is when streamers act like NPCs, usually found in games, and make tons of money while doing so. This TikTok NPC trend is now highly enjoyed by content creators and viewers, where they get to act like bots that would only interact when given money.
TikTok Trend has Influencers Acting Like NPCs for Money
TikTok Live appears when it is active, but users have screen recorded their NPC (non-player character) finds on Twitter, showing the different comical content from different creators.
This has been a trend on TikTok for a while, with many users already noticing their growing presence on the short-video app, where influencers pretend to be online characters and have a specific set of actions and phrases which they do repeatedly.
However, there is a way to interact with NPCs via TikTok, and it is through giving them gifts that translate to real-world money. In doing so, the NPC TikTok influencer would stop their routine actions and speeches and shout out to the specific account that gifted them.
One example would be the copycat of Miles Morales, seemingly copying Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, where he moves frivolously and speaks out different catchphrases from the character.
There is also another screen recording of an NPC who is routinely saying "Ice cream so good," then pretending to eat the gifted ice cream (TikTok's gift theme which also amounts to real-world money that gets sent to their accounts) and saying thank you to the name of the viewer.
TikTok NPC Trend: It is Making Serious Revenue
Over the past weeks, this has been a massive trend on the platform, with TikTok Lives seeing an "army" of NPCs generating revenue by acting like bots and only interacting with these monetary gifts.
Despite the odd and comical actions they do, these streamers generate serious revenue and earn from this trend, making it one of the top ways to earn on TikTok now.
TikTok Trends and Games NPCs
NPCs have come a long way from being hated by the gaming community to being the source of entertainment for some, especially as all they do is do random or specific acts and wait for gamers to approach them for interactions. NVIDIA is among those who are developing an AI to make NPC interactions better, and more natural in games.
Games are not all immersive and interactive, especially as it takes a lot to give all the characters a role, which is why NPCs are also important in these experiences. Other games have already included NPC-building capabilities, with STALKER 2: The Heart of Chernobyl doing so by selling NFTs that would help create these bot-like characters.
Whenever browsing TikTok and its gaming side, many influencers have already mimicked NPCs for their content, but mostly in produced videos. Now, they are bringing it to live streams where they get to have predetermined actions and cheesy phrases to say from time to time, but if you want to interact, they only accept a prompt of monetary rewards that brings various comical responses.
