Everyone has had that moment where they felt the rage inside them when a teammate is showing a lack of skills, but this does not mean they are permitted to be toxic and abusive in their words. A new Xbox feature is now applied system-wide, including backward compatible games available from older generations of the Xbox consoles, centering on multiplayer titles.
Microsoft is not condoning any form of abuse, especially with what happens on a variety of the games available on its consoles worldwide.
Xbox Improves Feature of Reporting Abusive Voice Chat Gamers
More responsible gaming is now a focus for Microsoft's Xbox, as according to its latest blog post, the company is improving on ways to report abusive gamers in the voice chatrooms of online games. Instead of letting these people run free, gamers now have the power to capture their behavior for their report and be given to a moderator for review and further actions.
This feature allows "capture now, report later" which would give gamers the chance to enjoy or finish their matches first before reprimanding those who have been trolling or being toxic online.
Xbox Series S & X and Xbox One players now have the chance to capture as much as 60-second clips for their report, also getting other information such as gamer tag, and more.
No Room for Toxicity in the Xbox Platform
The latest system-wide feature update aims to change the gamers' experience on the Xbox platform, and it expands more into in-game online voice chats that tend to get rowdy.
According to Engadget, the capture now, report later feature would be available in the gamer's library for as long as 24 hours before it expires. Microsoft's commitment to a healthier Xbox platform helps in the future enjoyment of the interconnected gaming experience for all.
The Toxic Gaming Culture
A previous study claimed that most of the toxic players are on action shooter games, with Battlefield and Call of Duty topping the list from a 2020 research. However, in this study, it was revealed that the most toxic players come from the Xbox gaming community, with the gamers mostly toxic and angry in their actions toward others.
While this may seem shallow, it is a significant look into the world of gaming, especially as it significantly influences the way a person is in real life.
Some developers create artificial intelligence that could help identify toxic and abusive players in games, with the system known as GGWP employing both humans and AI to track online behavior.
Toxic behavior in gaming is a massive problem and chances are, more people are letting these go than reporting them as they sometimes would not have sufficient evidence for their claims. With Microsoft and Xbox's latest feature, they could submit recordings and other forms of evidence for the moderators to review, as well as reprimand those who spread chaos in games.
