Every new version of Android includes updates to the operating system that enhance user experience, privacy, and security. These changes may impact existing apps of users.
"Testing your app involves installing your production app onto a device running Android 14 Beta 4; you can use Google Play or other means. Work through all the app's flows and look for functional or UI issues. Review the behavior changes to focus your testing," Google wrote in a blog post.
Developers are encouraged to check out Android 14 features to check everything they need to test their apps and provide feedback.
According to the company, the simplest way to get started is to use the 64-bit Android Emulator system images for the Pixel Tablet or Pixel Fold configurations provided in the most recent Android Studio SDK Manager preview.
The new Pixel 7a, Pixel Tablet, and Pixel Fold are all compatible Pixel devices that may need to register in order to receive future Android 14 Beta upgrades over the air.
