Anthony Starr's Homelander character in the hit Amazon Prime Video show, "The Boys," is one of the best TV villains in recent pop culture history, and he has essentially been confirmed to appear as a fighter in "Mortal Kombat 1."
There is no shortage of news regarding the upcoming game from NetherRealm Studios. "Mortal Kombat 1" is a reboot of its iconic fighting game franchise.
Apart from Homelander appearing as one of the game's DLC characters, another superhero is speculated to join him. Omni-Man from Amazon's animated series "Invincible" has also been revealed as a playable character in "Mortal Kombat 1."
ComicBook Gaming reported that there are still no announcements or confirmations from NetherRealm or Amazon. However, gamers are already rejoicing with this information, as this may be true.
"The Boys" official account on Twitter recently released a trailer showing that Starlight, Homelander, and Black Noir will be included in the upcoming "Call of Duty" update.
Homelander Is Joining Omni-Man for a Bloody Fatality
Homelander, Omni-Man from Invincible, and Peacemaker from the DC Universe are among the latest speculated additions to "Mortal Kombat 1." However, it seems that we will not see them formally in action until after the game's launch.
A handful of other Mortal Kombat veterans, such as Quan Chi, Ermac, and Takeda, would reportedly join these hyper-violent comic book characters in the game.
NetherRealm's 'Mortal Kombat 1' Revamp
NetherRealm's next major fighting game is "Mortal Kombat 1," which will be released in September. Instead of calling the game "Mortal Kombat 12," it takes on the name "Mortal Kombat 1" since it is a sort of reboot of the series.
Besides new takes on familiar characters, MK1 also introduces real-life personalities' skins to be playable on the upcoming title.
Megan Fox and rapper Travis Scott are speculated to join the game's roster. Fox was rumored to portray the character Kitana while Scott has no character relations yet but is rumored to portray Jax.
These Hollywood stars may appear as alternate skins like Jean-Claude Van Damme, who will make an appearance as Johnny Cage.
This was not the first time Mortal Kombat added characters to its game. There were Joker, Spawn, Rambo, and more, who joined in as DLCs in MK11. Homelander and Omni-Man will surely be fitting characters for the vicious fights in "Mortal Kombat 1."
