The new games from Resident Evil have focused on remakes, as their last mainline sequel installment, Resident Evil Village (RE8), is far off from seeing a successor to it.
That being said, CAPCOM was asked about its plans for the future remakes of its older RE games, with the question asking about whether they would expand more of the games to other installments or venture only for numbered games.
Resident Evil Remake: Will CAPCOM Venture to Other Titles Too?
CAPCOM's 44th General Meeting of Shareholders got an interesting discussion after they received a question regarding the future of its Resident Evil game remakes. The question asked if CAPCOM would stick to remaking only the mainline games from the RE franchise, centering only on the "high-end visual remakes of only the main numbered entries in the Resident Evil series."
This question was answered by CAPCOM "We are carrying out discussions regarding the future expansion of this series so it can be enjoyed by a wide audience."
Its answer remains not definitive, as it only talked about the future expansion of the series, with no clues as to what games would the public see next. Moreover, it also hints about the game remakes being "enjoyable by a wide audience," which may mean that it is looking to develop the popular ones.
Resident Evil Remakes of Numbered Games
According to ComicBook Gaming, one of the most famous non-numbered games from Resident Evil is "Code: Veronica" and this may or may not be in line for the company's next remake release.
It is worth mentioning that Resident Evil 4 already got its remake and it is the most famous game of the franchise, as regarded by gamers. On the other hand, Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6 are less popular, but they were the more modern installments released in 2009 and 2012 respectively, as opposed to Code Veronica which was released in 2000.
CAPCOM and Resident Evil
One of the most famous game franchises in the whole world is Resident Evil, and it came from the renowned Japanese game developers, CAPCOM, who have been around working on the series since 1996. The latest remake from the company was Resident Evil 4, and back then it was regarded as one of the greatest video games of all time, and in this present release, it also received high praise from the public.
The Resident Evil franchise is not yet over despite the remakes done by CAPCOM and its developers, as there is massive traction for its latest releases that Resident Evil 7: Biohazard started. The same goes for Resident Evil VIII Village which won the Game of the Year from the Steam Game Awards in 2021, marking its place in history.
Its expanded franchise is more than the numbered games as different titles also bring an iconic experience and look to one of the world's most beloved series of all time. That being said, CAPCOM's answer remains an unsure answer for the public who are prying about the future of its remakes, especially when there are other RE titles worthy of getting reworked for modern platforms.
