The Aska A5 eVTOL was among those who are looking to debut their tech, but more importantly, get its certifications and approvals from the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) which it obtained most recently. Now, the company is claiming to be the "world's first" flying car to do this, soon gunning for the Type Certification from the authorities.
Its A5's recent approval stemmed from its successful driving and flying experience both on the ground and on the air, making it a multi-platform vehicle with authorization from the regulators.
Aska A5 eVTOL is Now FAA Authorized and Certified
Aska announced via a press release that the company has already obtained its Certificate of Authorization and the Special Airworthiness Certification by the FAA which takes them to the next step in their developments. It has already conducted several flight and road tests which attests to its capabilities both on air and on land.
The Aska A5 is claimed to be the "world's first flying car" which obtained these crucial certifications and approval from the FAA, soon to be out on the streets for public use.
Its Special Airworthiness Certificate is a testament that it already met all the FAA safety requirements for this type of vehicle. "The airworthiness certification validates our efforts to develop a drive & fly eVTOL with an emphasis on safety," said Maki Kaplinsky, Aska co-founder/Chair & COO.

FAA Type Certification is the Next Goal
However, this is not yet the end of the line for Aska, as its next goal is to secure the FAA Type Certification says Interesting Engineering.
"Type certification signifies the design is in compliance with applicable airworthiness, noise, fuel venting, and exhaust emissions standards," claims the company.
Flying Cars and eVTOLs
Being the world's first is a massive claim, and this is because they assert that they are pioneers in the world, with Aska leading the market with its recent certification. The company may sound familiar as they were recently in the CES 2023 to showcase their eVTOL in the market, offering a 4-seater flying car that can go on both the roads and the air.
The company promises an SUV-type eVTOL to go on the air, and it can seat a family in its large cabins that would be comfortable along the way.
Speaking of eVTOLs, other companies are presenting different perks and access to these flying cars, including a company called Recon which claims that a pilot license is no longer needed for its operations.
A future where cars can go both on the air and on roads is closer to reality than it was before, but these are not the typical ones that people see in sci-fi movies that use hover technologies. While the Aska A5 can hover, it does so with rotors that help propel and bring it back to the ground, now working on its FAA Type Certification that would expand more of its operations in the world.
