Microsoft has long been pushing the use of Windows 11 instead of Windows 10. The company's time and attention are being spent on Windows 11 and not Windows 10.
Recently, Microsoft expanded the list of hardware supported by Windows 11. The company added support for many CPUs from Intel, AMD, and Qualcomm.
Microsoft Releases Details for Windows 11 Operating System-Supported Processors
According to Beta News, Microsoft has reportedly released details regarding the updated list of hardware supported by the Windows 11 operating system. It was reported that Microsoft had already updated the list of processors supported by Windows 11 months ago.
However, the main changes this time mean that hardware released more recently has been added. The list of Intel processors now supported by the Windows 11 update is lengthy than Qualcomm, but the same for AMD.
New Unites Supported by Intel and Qualcomm Include the Snapdragon 850 and Intel Celeron J4005
Specific processors from Intel and Qualcomm were highlighted, including the Snapdragon 850 and the Intel Celeron J4005. These two processors were only examples of the broad list of now-supported CPUs.
Microsoft further noted that devices with the CPUs can not be manufactured with a pre-installed Windows 11. The only way consumers could get the new operating system for these processors would be to upgrade their computers themselves.
Microsoft Continues to Grow Its List of Processors that Can Support the Windows 11 Operating System
It was also reported that Microsoft has been doing this for many months, making the list of Windows 11-supported processors longer. Microsoft also commented on its decision to expand the number of CPUs capable of running the latest Windows 11 operating system.
The company noted that the processors listed "meet the minimum floor for the supported processor generations and up through the latest processors at the time of publication."
Minimum System Requirements Needed to Run the Windows 11 Operating System
Microsoft also said that "these processors meet the design principles around security, reliability, and the minimum system requirements for Windows 11."
The company further noted that "subsequently released and future generations" of processors that meet the same principles will be considered as supported, even if not explicitly listed.
"It is expected that the processor list will not reflect the most current offerings from processor manufacturers between updates. Updates to the processor lists will occur at each subsequent general availability of Windows," Microsoft added.
