Electric Aircraft Maker Eve Strikes Major Deals for 'Flying Car' Sales at Paris Airshow 2023

The company is potentially selling a total of 150 eVTOLs.

Electric aircraft manufacturer Eve, a subsidiary of Embraer, has announced significant deals for the sale of its groundbreaking "flying car" at the Paris Airshow.

Reuters tells us in a report that the company has signed letters of intent with three prominent aviation entities: Voar Aviation, Nordic Aviation, and Wideroe Zero. These agreements entail the potential purchase of a total of 150 electric vertical take-off and landing vehicles (eVTOLs).

Eve's Position in the EV Market

The latest deals were unveiled during the highly anticipated Paris Airshow, solidifying Eve's position as a major player in the emerging eVTOL market.

Voar Aviation has expressed interest in acquiring 70 eVTOLs, while Nordic Aviation plans to purchase 30 aircraft for its leasing operations. Additionally, Wideroe Zero, an airline based in Norway, has indicated a potential order of 50 aircraft.

Eve, which currently holds an impressive backlog of approximately 2,800 orders, has made significant strides in developing its innovative flying car. The company recently completed wind tunnel testing for the eVTOL and anticipates commencing commercial operations by 2026.

Eve's eVTOL is powered entirely by electricity and has a range of 60 miles (100 kilometers), allowing it to perform a variety of urban air mobility missions.

Three Key Suppliers

In other news related to Eve Air Mobility, TravelDailyNews reports that the independent eVTOL developer announced the selection of three key suppliers ahead of the Paris Airshow.

Nidec Aerospace, a joint venture between Japan's Nidec Corporation and Embraer, will provide the electric propulsion system for Eve's aircraft.

BAE Systems has been entrusted with supplying an advanced energy storage system, while Duc Hélices Propellers will be responsible for the rotors and props.

According to Andre Stein, co-CEO of Eve Air Mobility, the appointment of these suppliers is a crucial milestone in the aircraft's development. Stein emphasized the company's commitment to delivering a mature and exceptional eVTOL that exceeds expectations, ensuring safe and efficient operations with low operating costs.

Furthermore, Embraer, the renowned Brazilian aircraft manufacturer, made significant announcements at the Paris Airshow through its subsidiary, Eve Air Mobility.

The company aims to revolutionize the European skies, particularly in the Urban Air Mobility (UAM) and eVTOL markets. Eve Air Mobility has forged a partnership with Blade Air Mobility, marking the integration of Eve's cutting-edge eVTOLs into Blade's European route network.

What's next?

Eve Air Mobility, established in 2020, is dedicated to accelerating the development of the UAM market by producing eVTOL aircraft and urban air mobility infrastructure.

The company's eVTOL design prioritizes safety, efficiency, and quiet operation, catering to various urban mobility missions. With a capacity of up to four passengers and a range of 100 miles, Eve's eVTOL demonstrates its potential to transform the future of transportation.

Andre Stein emphasized the collaboration between Eve and Blade as a testament to their shared commitment to advancing advanced air mobility. The partnership aims to offer innovative solutions that enhance accessibility for passengers while making significant environmental strides.

As the eVTOL market continues to gain momentum, Eve's impressive deals and partnerships position the company at the forefront of the industry. With its dedication to cutting-edge technology and sustainable transportation solutions, Eve is poised to shape the future of urban air mobility.
