The ride-hailing tech company, Uber, will soon introduce a new ad program that will appear on users' experience when hiring its services for all transportation needs. First off, it will center on having advertisements appear on the app after users have booked their ride and while waiting for the driver to arrive at their pickup location.
On the other hand, there are also plans to install tablets inside cars and it will play video ads that will run while the customer is en route to their destination.
Uber to Play Ads While Waiting for Rides, Drivers
According to The Wall Street Journal's report, Uber is set to bring advertisements to play whenever a person finds a ride and waits for their driver to arrive at their location. This was shared by one of Uber's executives, Mark Grether, saying that the main Uber app would be showing the customers ads whenever the app is used or active.
It seems like the ads would only stop when a user closes the app or when the driver already arrives at their pickup location and the ride starts.
9to5 Mac's report claimed that Uber's ad program in its previous initiatives has shown massive growth of as much as 80 percent year-over-year. Its CEO, Dara Khosrowshahi, regarded ads have been a key part of its company's growth.

In-Car Tablets Also Coming to Show Ads
However, that is not the end of it for users.
It was also said that Drizly, a company that Uber owns, will also install tablets in the cars so that ads will also run during rides, and would play for users to watch.
It is still unknown if these would be silent ads that would play or would have sounds and potentially disrupt the silence, especially if a customer prefers the quiet.
Uber and its Ride-Hailing Service
In the ride-hailing business in the US, Uber remains one of the top companies that provide their services to millions of Americans who prefer to commute to their destinations and a more private setting. A previous initiative of Uber called "Comfort Electric Program" provides an option for users to hail clean energy cars including Tesla, Ford, Polestar, and more.
Uber has many services available, and one of the most iconic is its Uber Eats which centers on a food delivery program that brings what the public wants from partner restaurants near their location, listed in the app. Recently, Uber upgraded its food delivery service in Virginia to bring autonomous robots to complete the order.
Being one of the most trusted and popular companies in the US and the world, Uber has proven itself in times of need and getting a more comfortable commute than the public transport system. However, its plans to bring ads to almost the entire riding experience may change the public's views on it, especially as it may disrupt the peace or quiet that some prefer in the service.
