Tesla CEO Elon Musk will meet with French President Emmanuel Macron on Friday for the second time in more than a month to discuss tech regulation and pitch France as a prospective location for one of Tesla's electric vehicle (EV) facilities.
As previously disclosed by authorities, France has been aggressively pursuing the Chinese EV giant BYD and Tesla to open plants there, according to Reuters. However, France is up against competition from other nations in the European Union, like Spain, which, according to a source, is also negotiating with Tesla.
During his visit to the VivaTech conference in Paris, France's most extensive technology innovation exhibition, President Macron spoke with the media and shared his strategy for the event. "Artificial intelligence," social media, regulatory frameworks, "cars, batteries, to promote French and European attractiveness" will be discussed.
When questioned about the prospect of acquiring a Tesla gigafactoryPresident Emmanuel Macron also stressed that the preference ultimately lies with the Elon Musk-owned corporation. Still, France is keen to position itself as a prime investment location.

Elon Musk Considers Putting Up More EV Factories
Elon Musk recently said that the business plans to announce a new production site before the end of the year, which has increased the momentum for a Tesla plant in France, according to Electrek. The electric car manufacturer's ambitious aim of producing 20 million cars annually by the decade's end highlights the need for more production facilities.
Regarding the planned Tesla plant in France, Jean-Noel Barrot, a spokesperson of the French government, expressed delight and cited the efforts taken to make it happen. With the recent opening of its first battery plant for EVs, France has been aggressively seeking to boost its position as a center for the electric vehicle sector, per CNBC.
The French government will have a sizable presence at the VivaTech convention in Paris, where Elon Musk is expected to speak on Friday.
