Steam Client Update for Linux Users Gives Them the Ability to Enable Hardware Acceleration
According to the story by 9to5Linux, recently, Valve has released a new update for its Steam Client, which is said to make the service more stable. This update has long been awaited by Linux gamers as it now allows them to access a feature that would improve their gaming experience.
The new Steam Client stable update would give players the ability to enable system hardware acceleration. This would result in improved gameplay as players would be able to maximize the specs they're packing.
Aside from hardware acceleration, the Steam Client update comes with modern design elements upgrades to make certain things look better. This includes upgrades to the dialogues, menus, fonts, and even colors.
Linux Steam Client Users will be on Par with Windows Users After the New Update
Steam Client users will also be getting richer notifications as well as in-game overlay overhaul. On top of that, players would also be getting an updated screenshot manager, new pinning and notes functionalities, and even a Settings dialog that was completely revamped for added efficiency and easy access.

Players are being warned that when hardware acceleration is enabled for NVIDIA GPUs, there would be a risk of an X11 crash happening. It was also noted that by default, hardware acceleration would automatically be disabled for NVIDIA systems.
Valve also notes that players might experience DPI scaling not working correctly when they disable their hardware acceleration. Regarding Linux users, the new Steam Client stable update would add a brand new Compatibility tab in Settings.

New Update Makes It Easier for Players to Make Changes in the SteamPlay/Proton Settings
This would reportedly make it easier for players to make changes in the SteamPlay/Proton settings while improving Flatpak apps support when listing or even adding certain non-Steam shortcuts. Players will also be able to add the -forcedesktopscaling command line switch in order to override the window scaling factor.
