Adobe Introduces AI Subscription Services, Assures Legal Protection, Content Generation Across Products

Adobe is introducing new AI subscription services that generate text and image content based on user prompts.

Adobe Inc is set to shake up the industry yet again with the introduction of new artificial intelligence (AI) subscription services.

The company plans to offer generative AI tools that produce text and image content based on user prompts across its product lineup.

Notably, Bloomberg reports that Adobe is also providing legal assurance against copyright infringement claims.

Adobe's Newest AI Subscription Services

Ashley Still, Senior Vice President at Adobe, disclosed in an interview that business customers can access these AI services through a flat-rate subscription tailored to the size of their organizations.

By negotiating pricing with individual customers, Adobe aims to make these cutting-edge tools accessible and scalable to enterprises of all sizes.

Adobe is also dedicated to protecting users from copyright claims, a challenge early adopters like Stability AI have been struggling with.

With the subscription, users can remove watermarks from images, and if there is a lawsuit, Adobe will cover damages and offer legal support.

This commitment extends to Adobe Stock, where they also take responsibility for their image library. Investors responded positively to this announcement, with Adobe's shares rising 4.2% in New York.

Commercially Safe AI

In an era where AI image generation is rapidly advancing, Adobe is positioning itself as an ethical industry leader.

In a recent news release, they emphasized that their Firefly line of tools, which are extensively trained using their own stock library, is the only commercially safe generative AI offering in the market.

With Adobe's reputation for fostering creativity and innovation, customers can now leverage AI without plagiarism or offensive content generation concerns.

The company is incorporating image-generation tools into various software applications. Existing flagship products like Photoshop and the standalone image generator already offer features that create images from text prompts.

Adobe Express with Firefly

In a recent statement, Adobe announced that the new version of Express, their web-based design tool, will also include these image-generating capabilities.

According to the company, the "new all-in-one Express app is the perfect web complement to Adobe's Creative Cloud applications."

The enterprise licenses for these tools will have an image-generating cap, which is expected to be rarely reached during normal usage.

The Challenge with Paid AI

Bloomberg notes that monetizing AI features is a challenge faced by major software companies.

Microsoft, for instance, has reportedly charged a flat fee of $100,000 to certain Office 365 customers, enabling them to test AI features with up to 1,000 users per year.

According to Bloomberg Intelligence analysts, the generative AI market, which underpins technologies like popular chatbots and image makers, is predicted to reach a staggering $1.3 trillion by 2032.

As generative AI relies on significant computational resources, the cost of operation becomes a concern.

Adobe Remains Optimistic About AI

Still, Adobe remains confident about its ability to manage these expenses. Over 100 million images were generated using Photoshop's new generative tools in the first eight days of availability, demonstrating their widespread adoption.

Adobe's Firefly image-generation features are also being integrated into their marketing and analytics software. Amit Ahuja, Senior Vice President at Adobe, stated that generative AI for text-related tasks, such as writing advertising copy or summarizing conversations, will utilize large language models developed by other companies.
