Intestinal bacteria can actually help humans live up to 100 years, as claimed by a new study.
Many people across the globe are trying to find ways on how they can have a healthy lifestyle.
They are doing this as they want to live longer. The most common things they do is avoid stress, eat healthy food, regular exercise, etc.
Now, another factor for longer life was identified by a new study conducted by researchers from the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Protein Research at the University of Copenhagen.
Intestinal Bacteria Can Help Humans Live Up To 100 Years!
According to Interesting Engineering, researchers identified a common trait of people who reached 100 years old or older.
This is a unique combination of intestinal bacterial viruses and bacteria. The new study, which was published in the Nature Microbiology journal, examined 176 centenarians in Japan.
The study's first author, Postdoc Joachim Johansen, said that previous studies already showed that old Japanese citizens have intestinal bacteria.
This produces brand-new molecules; making their bodies resistant to disease-promoting pathogenic microorganisms.
"And if their intestines are better protected against infection, well, then that is probably one of the things that cause them to live longer than others," said Johansen.
Joachim and other involved researchers relied on a new algorithm to identify the intestinal bacteria and bacterial viruses inside the bodies of centenarians.

How To Live a Longer Life
Of course, not everyone can have the newly identified intestinal bacteria combinations in the study.
But, there are things you can do to reach 100 years old. Via CNBC, many centenarians shared what they are doing to live a longer life.
These include the following:
- Try doing some work to keep your mind busy/engaged. This could be a non-stressful job or just a hobby.
- Always surround yourself with friends and family.
- Always see the positive things in life. Avoid focusing on the negative happenings.
- Exercise regularly; even if it's just walking in the morning or at night.
- Treat your mental health just like how you value your physical health.

Meanwhile, experts claimed that self-propelled microrobots could be the future of medicine.
