AMC Theaters On Demand will no longer cater to on-demand streaming services to its users. After four years, the company decided to migrate its users to Vudu.
The deal will not only transfer the users to a new streaming platform but also move the content libraries to the Fandango-owned digital video service.
AMC Customers Can Soon Transfer Accounts to Vudu
The theater giant's streaming platform will now be under Fandango Media starting Thursday, June 1. This means AMC customers won't be able to rent or view shows or movies from any AMC Theaters on Demands websites.
According to Variety, the transition will grant a viewing upgrade to the users who previously bought via AMC Theaters on Demand. Now, you can enjoy 4K Ultra HD movies and access notable titles, including "Avatar: The Way of Water" "John Wick: Chapter 4," "The Super Mario Bros. Movie," and more.
If you want to start watching movies on your AMC account, you must create a Vudu account to buy media content. This will also result in the immediate transfer of your AMC content library to the new platform.
In a report by TechCrunch, AMC announced that its customers can move their movie library to Vudu until August 31. You still have two months to transfer your movie collection before the streaming service shuts down.

Vudu Discount and Movie Rental Price
Since you now link your AMC Theaters on Demand account to Vudu, you are entitled to a 15% discount for every purchase you do during the first month of availing of the streaming service.
When it comes to movie rentals, Vudu says that the price ranges from $0.99 to almost $6. However, the purchased films are more expensive and can reach up to $25.
If you want to buy the individual episodes of a series you want to watch, each of them can cost $2 or $3. The complete season will be more costly, from $17 to $44. According to Vudu, a paid subscription is not required to purchase the episode or a movie segment.
Vudu is currently owned by Fandango Media, a partnership made by Warner Bros. Discovery and NBCUniversal. The platform was first acquired by Walmart in 2010 before Fandango purchased it a decade later.
"As we continue to evolve our business and remain focused on Making Movies Better by enhancing the theatrical experience, we're even more excited to expand our relationship with a trusted partner, who will ensure a continued preeminent experience for those consumers who are streaming their post-theatrical movies at home," AMC Senior VP of Content Strategy & Inclusive Programming Nikkole Denson-Randolph said via Engadget.
AMC and Fandango did not share the rest of the information about the recent transaction.
