The China-South Korea semiconductor cooperation will now be boosted, as confirmed by officials at the recent APEC Trade Ministers Meeting 2023.
Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao and South Korean Trade Minister Ahn Duk-geun confirmed this effort as the U.S. government tries to limit China's access to semiconductor resources.
As of writing, China and the United States are still battling each other in the tech sector. Washington already blacklisted Chinese tech companies.
Aside from this, the U.S. government also restricted citizens from offering assistance to China's chip industry.
China-South Korea Semiconductor Cooperation To Be Strengthened!
According to Bloomberg's latest report, Wentao and Duk-Geun are ready to strengthen the investment and bilateral trade cooperation between China and South Korea.
During the APEC Trade Ministers Meeting, the two officials exchanged their views on how the stability of the industrial supply chain can be maintained and how semiconductor cooperation can be boosted.
Wentao said China is willing to work with the ROK to boost bilateral trade and investment cooperation with South Korea.
Meanwhile, ROK is also willing to enhance bilateral trade and economic cooperation further, as well as expand the areas of cooperation under regional and multilateral frameworks.
US-Japan Chip Cooperation Also Being Enhanced
Aside from China and South Korea, the United States and Japan announced that they'll boost their semiconductor cooperation.
The two countries said they'd work together to track and solve geographic concentrations of production undermining semiconductor supply chain resilience.
The South China Morning Post reported that this effort was discussed by US Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo and her Japanese counterpart, Yasutoshi Nishimura.
These semiconductor cooperation efforts clearly show that the U.S., China, and other countries are taking the competition to the next level.
