4K Smart TV for Free!

Ilya Pozin's startup company is launching a much bigger deal after exiting Pluto last year. Telly is shipping thousands of free 4K HDTVs, which Futurism reports that, just like any smart TV, this would come with a 55-inch main screen, three HDMI inputs and tuner, and an integrated sound bar that normally costs more than $1,000 at retail.

Telly is calling this an "Ultimate Free TV Upgrade." What's new and different with the giveaway is that it has a 9-inch-high second screen that is affixed to the bottom of the TV. Telly stated that the purpose of the dual screen is to display news, sports scores, and weather stocks, or can be used for video games.

Non-Stop Ads

Here's the catch. Telly's second screen features a space on the right-hand side dedicated to the nonstop stream of advertisements while utilizing the whole TV. Chief Strategy Officer Dallas Lawrence ever stated that both screens might even show ads at the same time when not in use.

"Telly is giving away the device completely free. The business will be entirely supported by advertising and affiliate revenue," Founder and Chief Executive Officer Ilya Pozzin stated. Telly's TVs make it far more valuable than any traditional advertising. Variety reported that this follows Pluto TV, a model that offered TV content to viewers for free which was also supported by ads.

Users might also reconsider before signing up as Telly stated that it may collect information about the audio and video content that users watch, the channel they view, and the duration of their viewing sessions, along with the information on how they interact with the TV like search queries and button selections.

As per the company's Viewing and Activity Data Policy, users have the right to opt out of sharing their viewing and activity data. However, this means users will either have to return the TV or pay the presumed cost of the dual-screen TV plus sound bar setup for themselves, charging their credit cards on file in the amount of $500.

Telly's Specs

For the main display, The Verge reported that it features a 55-inch 4K HDR panel that is liked to the secondary display through TellyOS, the company's own operating system. While it does not support third-party streaming apps, Telly comes bundled with a free 4K Android TV dongle that will allow users to stream whatever they want.

This will also be compatible with other streaming devices like Roku, Amazon Fire Stick, and Apple TV as it will come with three HDMI inputs, 2 USB inputs, and a tuner that can be utilized for over-the-air broadcasts.

Additionally, it will be equipped with a camera ad a microphone with a privacy shutter that can be used for conference calls, a motion sensor, and free advanced motion-tracking fitness programs.
