Elon Musk is a tech executive known for his very unusual decisions.
Some of his plans are quite strange and hard to understand. But his other ideas are quite interesting and really effective when implemented.
Now, the billionaire shared another peculiar idea for his EV company. In his leaked email announcement, Elon Musk confirmed that he plans to personally handle new Tesla hires.
Although it sounds like a great idea, how can the billionaire handle thousands of Tesla applicants?
Elon Musk To Personally Handle New Tesla Hires!
According to Electrek's latest report, the average number of new Tesla hires per year is around 30,000.
In 2022, the EV maker decided to conduct hiring freezes and some layoffs. Despite these, Tesla still ended up with more than 120,000 employees.
This is around 28% higher compared to employee number records in the previous years. Although this is the case, Elon still wants to personally handle new hires.
In his latest email message, the billionaire explained that he wanted to understand the company's hiring process.
"I would like to gain a better understanding of our hiring. VPs should send me a list of their department hiring requests once a week," said the tech executive via Business Insider.
He added that VPs should be careful before they send the hiring requests since no one should easily join Tesla.
Elon further stated that applicants, even contractors, should not be approved to join the company until he sends the email approval.
Possible Consequences of Elon Musk's Decision
If Elon really continues his plan, then new Tesla hires will be filtered more thoroughly; after all, he is the company's boss.
However, there's a consequence to this plan. Since he is just one person and new hires could reach tens of thousands, Musk's plan could slow Tesla's hiring process.
