Now, Google announced its latest tech that can help users identify fake images generated by AI models.
This is the new "About This Image" feature. To help you understand this new tech, here are its major details.

The search engine giant explained that this new tool can create fake images out of users' captured images, thanks to the assistance of generative artificial intelligence.
Luckily, Google also introduced a new feature that can counter its Magic Editor Google Photos tool; About This Image.
Google stated that a 2022 Poynter study revealed that 60% of users come across misinformation every day. Because of this, the tech giant firm wants to help people identify misinformation online.
"That's why we're expanding our ongoing work in information literacy to include more visual literacy and help people quickly and easily assess the context and credibility of images," said Google via its official blog post.
How 'About This Image' Works
Google said that the new About This Image feature can easily identify AI-generated pictures.
This innovation will be integrated into the Image section of Google search. To access it, all you need to do is click any image and tap on the three-dot option.
After that, just click the "About This Image" option. After that, the tech will provide the following details about the photo:
- Where else has it's been seen online (like on news, social, or fact-checking sites)
- When the image and similar images were first indexed by Google
- Where it may have first appeared
Google said that it is launching the new About This Image feature in the United States first. As of writing, the company hasn't confirmed the global release date of this new anti-AI image.
