The Sims 4 has always been known for its expansive customization options, allowing players to create and control their digital avatars and design their homes.
Now, Electronic Arts (EA) is taking things one step further by putting the power of choice directly into the hands of the community.
EA Puts Out Latest Sims 4 Vote
In a recent survey posted on The Sims 4 website, Eurogamer tells us that players were allowed to decide on the themes of two upcoming Kit packs. One pack will be focused on Create-a-Sim fashion, while the other will be centered around building.
For the fashion pack, voters can choose between Rainbow Core and Goth Fashion. Rainbow Core is described as a "playful aesthetic featuring nostalgic, youthful designs, and pops of color," Goth Fashion is all about "modern mesh and lace detail, dark, dramatic makeup, and edgy accessories."
As for the building pack, the two options are Medieval Castle and High Tech Futurism. Medieval Castle will feature "brick walls, battlements, and leaded glass windows in old stone." At the same time, High Tech Futurism will boast "sleek metal exteriors and glowing accents that make a perfect home for any Sim visiting from another planet."
The Player Community Decides
Following Electronic Arts' announcement that The Sims 4 community would decide the themes for two upcoming Kit packs, players on Reddit have been sharing their opinions on the poll. With voting now open, users have already started voicing their thoughts on the poll choices.
but...... I want all of them

One user, snarkaluff, speculated that future and past themes would likely be available eventually and suggested they could be included in one expansion pack, similar to a decades pack.
They also mentioned that they chose the dark option for the Create-a-Sim fashion poll because there have been a lot of colorful options lately, and there is a need for more goth/punk options.
Another user expressed their hope that EA is working on all of the themes and is just testing the popularity. They said it would be better to prioritize the themes with more votes instead of discarding good ideas just because they did not reach an arbitrary approval rating.
The survey is open until May 22 at 3 am BST/May 21 at 7 pm PT, giving players plenty of time to cast their votes and have their say in the game's future development.
Bold Move, Smart Move
This move by EA is a bold one, as it puts the power of choice directly in the hands of the players. While certain limitations exist to what can be chosen (the themes are already pre-selected), it still gives players a sense of agency and controls over the game's direction.
It is also a smart move on EA's part, as it shows that the company is listening to its community and considering their feedback. By giving players a say in the game's development, EA is not only fostering a stronger sense of community but also ensuring that the game remains relevant and engaging for its players.
Of course, there is always the risk of the community being divided over which themes to choose. Some players may prefer the bright and colorful Rainbow Core, while others may be drawn to the dark and edgy aesthetic of Goth Fashion.
Similarly, some players may pick the medieval charm of a castle, while others may be more interested in building a futuristic, high-tech home.
