The Tesla brake and acceleration defects led to a massive China recall.
Chinese regulators ordered the American automaker to conduct the EV re-collection due to the issues' potential risks.
This is not the first time that the EV maker's car models suffered from braking issues. Previously, the phantom braking problem also affected numerous Tesla models, leading to an NHTSA investigation.
Now, a new brake problem and acceleration issue left Tesla with no choice but to follow China's recall order.
Tesla Brake, Acceleration Defects Lead to Massive Recall in China!
According to CNN Business' latest report, the latest Tesla recall in China includes over one million EV units.
A top Chinese market regulator confirmed this decision on Friday, May 12. The American EV maker is expected to conduct the actual recall on May 29.
It will re-collect EV models manufactured between January 12, 2019, and Apr. 24, 2023, as announced by the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR).
Affected EV units include Model X, Model 3, and Model S; all are Chinese-made.
Tesla Brake, Acceleration Issue's Risks
The New York Times reported that the latest Tesla issues involve the EV maker's regenerative braking system. This system generates electricity from the EV's motion; when the driver takes a foot off the accelerator.
SAMR explained that the issue they are referring to is the lack of warning or notification that can inform Tesla drivers if they are pressing too hard on the accelerator.
As of writing, Tesla said that it plans to make adjustments or add new notification features to solve the problem and avoid collision risks.
