Nintendo has been the center of rumors in the past following some reports that the company will release a new Switch model soon.
The Japanese gaming giant has officially put an end to these rumors after announcing that the next Switch successor won't be coming until next year.
No Nintendo Switch Pro is Coming in 2024
According to the initial report by Bloomberg, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa has confirmed that no new hardware will be available for the 2023/24 financial year.
With no hardware to launch for the next-gen gaming console, this only means one thing: no Switch 2 or Switch Pro is expected to arrive until April 2024.
The huge announcement came after the company achieved one billion copies of software sold in March 2023. Meanwhile, the hardware sales only reached 125 million copies.
The decline was not what Nintendo expected to happen since it forecasted last time that it would instead shoot up following the increasing demand for Switch.
"Sustaining the Switch's sales momentum will be difficult in its seventh year. Our goal of selling 15 million units this fiscal year is a bit of a stretch, but we will do our best to bolster demand going into the holiday season so that we can achieve the goal," Furukawa said during the investor's presentation.
As of writing, we have not yet heard any reports if Nintendo will name it Switch Pro, Switch 2, or any other nickname. According to IGN, the improved Switch version will feature powerful graphics which you can compare to Sony's PlayStation 4 console.
At the very least, all we can do is wait until 2024 to see what's waiting for us on the other line. It would be the most awaited year for Switch fans who are hoping to play the new "Zelda" game on a fresh console.

Nintendo Wii Port Game Surpasses 'Pokemon' Game on Switch
In another Nintendo-related report, Comic Book says that the Wii U port "New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe'' managed to dethrone Switch exclusive " Pokemon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!" on the list of the top list of top-selling Switch games.
According to the gaming news site, here's the list of the games and their units sold.
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe- 53.79 million
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons- 42.21 million
- Super Smash Bros. Ultimate- 31.09 million
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild- 29.81 million
- Pokemon Sword and Shield- 25.82 million
- Super Mario Odyssey- 25.76 million
- Pokemon Scarlet and Violet- 22.10 million
- Super Mario Party- 19.14 million
- New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe- 15.41 million
- Ring Fit Adventure- 15.38 million
When the Wii U platform welcomed "New Super Mario Bros," it did not turn out well. It faced a very low number of copies sold under six million which Nintendo considered as a big failure.
Fortunately, the game was reincarnated but this time in another gaming platform which is Nintendo Switch. The ported version was well-received by the players who long to play it after a decade. Its huge success could be attributed to the success of "The Super Mario Bros. Movie."
