The wait for "Star Wars Jedi: Survivor" is finally over, as the game is set to drop in a few hours today, April 28, and will feature the latest story of Cal Kestis as he remains one of the only survivors from the Empire's wrath. However, the new game's teaser appears to have one familiar actor in it, as Mark Hamill is shown teaching Cameron Monaghan the Ways of the Force.
This latest teaser does not hint at the arrival of Luke Skywalker to the game, as Cal Kestis is already on his journey to outrunning the Empire, while the famed Jedi Master was only an infant left to the care of his uncle, Owen Lars.
'Star Wars Jedi: Survivor' Teaser Shows Mark Hamill with Cameron Monaghan
EA's latest tweet shows a teaser video that features Mark Hamill and Cameron Monaghan in a feel-good behind-the-scenes shot of "Star Wars Jedi: Survivor's" development. The company calls this a "Jedi Coaching Session" where Hamill is instructing Monaghan, known for his role as Cal Kestis, particularly in the body-motion capture production of the game.
While Hamill was not seen holding the prop lightsaber or going alongside Monaghan in the body suit, the teaser shows the quirky interaction between the two actors. They also seemingly compare their mastery of the Force and saber skills.
At one point, Hamill storms out because it was shown that Monaghan's Kestis was given dual lightsabers to wield, unlike his character, Luke, who was only given one green weapon.
Hamill is Teaching Monaghan and Cal Kestis the Ways of the Force
While Monaghan is best known for his excellent portrayal of Cal Kestis in the first game, "Fallen Order," Hamill still steps in to teach the Ways of the Force to the protagonist of the upcoming "Star Wars Jedi: Survivor" title.
Towards the end of the teaser, Hamill is also shown to be playing the game, and Monaghan ends up coaching him on how to use the Force in-game but quickly dismisses him as the Luke Skywalker actor claims he knows how to use it.
"Jedi Survivor" is coming this April 28, available for all pre-orders and those who will only be purchasing now.
The 'Star Wars Franchise's Legacy
With a franchise spanning almost 45 years now in July, "Star Wars" remains one of the best epics that focus on space and alien life forms that the world has loved until now. People grew up watching Mark Hamill's Luke Skywalker, the Jedi hidden from birth from his menacing father, Darth Vader, step up and face his fate to defeat the Empire.
After the prequel reboots and the sequel which launched with 2015's "Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens," Hamill was brought back to portray Luke Skywalker again in "The Last Jedi" from 2017.
Some games proved to capture cannon and special stories of the "Star Wars" franchise, centering on "Knights of the Old Republic" and the famous "Star Wars Jedi" franchise.
With "Star Wars Jedi: Survivor" set to release in a few hours, this latest teaser from EA and Respawn Entertainment gives gamers a lookback at Jedi training by none other than Hamill himself. This teaser shows how Mark Hamill flourished as an actor, as well as with his significantly important role as Luke Skywalker, now passing the torch to the younger generation, with Cameron Monaghan's Cal Kestis.
