OpenAI, the company behind the wildly popular AI chatbot ChatGPT, has announced plans to introduce a new subscription plan for the chatbot.
The new subscription, called ChatGPT Business, is designed for professionals who require greater control over their data and enterprises seeking to manage their end users.
ChatGPT Business
According to OpenAI, ChatGPT Business will follow the API's data usage policies, which means that end-users' data will not be used to train the model by default. OpenAI intends to make ChatGPT Business available in the next few months.
"We are also working on a new ChatGPT Business subscription for professionals who need more control over their data as well as enterprises seeking to manage their end users," OpenAI wrote in a blog post.
"ChatGPT Business will follow our API's data usage policies, which means that end users' data won't be used to train our models by default."
New Features
New features have been added to ChatGPT by OpenAI, which includes the option to turn off chat history. This new feature will enable users to choose which conversations can be used to train the model.
Conversations that are initiated when chat history is turned off will not be used to train or improve the model and will not be visible in the history sidebar.
These new controls have been rolled out to all users by OpenAI, and they can be found in the ChatGPT settings. They can also be modified at any time. With this update, OpenAI hopes to provide an easier way to manage data than the existing opt-out process.
When chat history is disabled, conversations will be kept for 30 days and reviewed only when required to monitor for abuse, after which they will be permanently deleted.
ChatGPT's settings now include an export option that facilitates the process of exporting users' data and allows them to comprehend the information stored by ChatGPT. Users will receive an email containing all pertinent data, such as their conversations.
OpenAI hopes that these developments will provide users with greater control over their data and a more comfortable way to manage their information.
OpenAI Applies for Trademark
In related news, the company has recently applied to trademark "GPT," which is short for "Generative Pre-trained Transformer."
This follows the lead of other companies who have attempted to trademark similar names like ThreatGPT, MedicalGPT, and DateGPT.
These names were inspired by the success of OpenAI's ChatGPT chatbot, which uses the GPT-4 deep learning model.
Obtaining the trademark for "GPT" would give OpenAI the exclusive right to use that term in the field of machine learning and artificial intelligence.
However, OpenAI's initial petition to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) was dismissed due to a missed fee payment and insufficient supporting documentation.
