The top cryptocurrency in the world started with a whitepaper, and it details information necessary to its existence that will encourage users to invest in it, but now it disappeared from the macOS 13 beta. In the first place, it is unknown why Apple had a copy of Bitcoin's whitepaper in the OS, which is now removed. It remains a mystery.
Bitcoin Whitepaper Disappears from the macOS 13 Beta
9to5 Mac has reported that the Bitcoin Whitepaper that was originally seen on the macOS files is now gone, and despite following the steps to see it for yourself, it will no longer be available to view. As per its probe, its engineers may have known that users have already discovered the hidden file and decided to remove it.
The reason behind its previous appearance remains unknown. Still, the report speculated that this might only be an inside joke or an easter egg from Apple engineers who originally included it.
However, as more people could find it from its hidden files, the concerned people decided to remove it from the macOS.
Previous macOS Versions had the BTC Whitepaper
Andy Baio was the first to discover the BTC whitepaper on the macOS 13, and after verification from other friends, they found that this was the same with their other Macs. Moreover, they claim that it was originally added to the system in macOS Mojave in 2018, almost five years after it was originally discovered.
The whitepaper has no special bearing on the macOS, as it did not have confidential information to share, speculated as an inside joke by Apple engineers.
Apple's macOS Development
Apple had no connections to Bitcoin in the past, and crypto mining is not advised for Mac computers as it does not have the exponential power needed to mine the coin enough to reap its rewards. However, it is possible through Apple's latest development for its computers, particularly with the M-series Silicon-based chips.
The company is currently operating with its latest OS under macOS 13 Ventura series, which provides the world with the newest interface and experiences with Apple's computers.
This upcoming WWDC 2023 would usher in a new era for Mac computers as there is an expected OS upgrade coming with the macOS 14 also expected.
Before this news of the BTC whitepaper on the macOS files, there were not many connections between Apple and Bitcoin, as the Cupertino giant does not support crypto mining on its platform. Why it was there remains unknown, but users looking for it now will no longer see it for themselves, as Apple removed it for unknown reasons.
