Adobe Introduces AI-Powered Editing Tools to Speed Up Post-production for Premiere Pro, After Effects

The Text-Based Editing tool in Premiere Pro uses Adobe's Sensei AI framework to transcribe clips automatically.

Adobe is on its way to launching new editing features that incorporate artificial intelligence (AI) technology into its Premiere Pro and After Effects software.

The goal of these improvements is to improve post-production workflows and the efficiency of video editors.

Text-Based Editing in Premiere Pro

TechRadar tells us in a report that adding Text-Based Editing in Premiere Pro is among the significant enhancements, which uses Adobe's Sensei AI framework to transcribe clips automatically.

This tool will allow editors and producers to easily copy text as it appears and paste it in any order into a video's timeline, resulting in a more efficient workflow.

More Key Updates to Premiere Pro

Adobe has also included Automatic Tone Mapping and Log Colour Detection to help integrate HDR footage from multiple sources into a single project. This feature eliminates manual footage adjustments, creating a more consistent and uniform appearance.

The update also includes collaboration tools like Sequence Locking, allowing editors to lock a video section for everyone else to view. Work While Offline enables editors to work offline and then upload their changes without interfering with other people's edits. Presence Indicators will show who is working on what, increasing team collaboration and communication.

This update also includes GPU acceleration for select professional formats such as Sony Venice V2, support for four new languages in Speech to Text such as Swedish, and background autosave. Because of significant under-the-hood improvements, Adobe claims this update is the fastest version of Premiere Pro ever.

After Effects Optimization

The update will also include After Effects optimizations, such as faster timeline layer selection and new keyboard shortcuts for Selectable Track Mattes.

Context-sensitive options based on software selections will be displayed in the Properties Panel, making tools more accessible. Adding ACES and OpenColorIO tools ensures that footage quality remains consistent when assets are shared with other post-production apps.

After Effects now assists users in resolving common issues without IT support, such as in-app troubleshooting for potential workflow issues, system performance optimizations, and more.

How to Get the New Features

Those interested in trying out these features can download the Premiere Pro Beta, while the rest of the update will be available for viewing at the 2023 NAB Show in Las Vegas. The new features are scheduled to go live in May 2023. For more pricing information, you can visit this site.

More from Adobe

Adobe also stated that over 400 global partners, including chipmakers AMD, Intel, and Nvidia; camera manufacturers Canon, Nikon, RED, and Sony; and technology providers ranging from AWS to Fraunhofer IIS and Microsoft, are now delivering solutions for Adobe customers.

Adobe's leading collaborative video review and approval platform, Frame.io, now supports end-to-end workflows for capturing, editing, reviewing, and approving photos, thanks to newly announced integrations with FUJIFILM.
