Revamp Google Drive location picker finally arrives!
This new version will significantly benefit many users, allowing them to organize their Drive files and folders easier than before.
Google confirmed the redesigned location picker on Wednesday, April 12. "We're introducing improvements to the web Google Drive location picker," the search engine giant said via its official Work Space Updates blog post.
Revamp Google Drive Location Picker Arrives!
According to Android Police's latest report, the redesigned Google Drive location picker will allow users to quickly select a location to organize folders and files.
You will notice the new picker changes once you move files or folders to other places. You can do this by right-clicking on a file. This will pull up a context menu with the "Move to" button.
As of writing, Google is still rolling out the revamp Drive location picker in phases. This means some users can access it already, while others must wait for some time.
This new enhancement is accessible to users with a personal Google account and Workplace subscription and those with legacy G Suite Basic and Business tiers.
Drive Location Picker's Changes
Google provided all the noticeable changes users can see on the new location picker.
Here are the exact enhancements you can take advantage of:
- "Suggested," "Starred," and "All locations" tabs.
- Streamlined navigation that adds an inline button to complete the action of moving a file in one click.
- Suggested locations and the option to reject the suggestion, which immediately removes it from the list.
- Details for the selected folder paths, an option to create a new folder, and an image notification if you move something into an empty folder.
- A label if a folder is "view only" and explanations for why you might face an error when moving a file, such as not being the owner of a file.
