Check out Google Maps' new feature.

This month, the Google Maps app has gone above and beyond for nature lovers by upgrading the user experience for popular US national parks. In celebration of National Park Week starting April 22nd and to commemorate the waiver of entrance fees, Google Maps is adding new features specifically for exploring these parks.

Google Maps Embraces Outdoor Exploration with National Park Trail Support

According to the story by The Verge, when users search for specific trails within a US national park, Google Maps will now display the entire trail route instead of simply showing a pin.

The app will also be able to provide walking and biking directions to the trailhead and allow users to download a detailed park map to use offline.

In addition to the trails, those searching for popular US national parks on Google Maps will also see photo highlights for each park's most popular attractions, along with user reviews and other key information.

Additionally, parks on the app will have ratings and reviews to help users gauge which ones are worth the visit. In fact, Google shared a list of parks with more than 1,000 reviews, each with a rating of 4.5 or higher.

Google Maps Improves Ability to Explore American National Parks

Sadly, these new features won't be available for all trails, especially outside US national parks. To get more detailed information for these less popular trails, AllTrails may be the better option - although users will need to purchase a subscription for offline access to its maps.

For nature lovers looking to explore American national parks, Google Maps just got a lot more helpful. The well-known Google Maps app just announced a new update that will improve the ability to explore some of America's most cherished parks.

Explore Popular National Parks with the Google Maps App

Starting this month and continuing into National Park Week, beginning April 22nd, Google Maps will provide users various advantages when mapping their hiking and cycling routes.

Searching for certain national parks on the app will now result in photo previews of the popular attractions and reviews from other users, allowing for easy decision-making.
