The actress of a dominant villain in the show, who did not appear in the original game, wants to have an origin story for her character, with unknown plans yet from HBO and Naughty Dog. This also comes at a time when "The Last of Us Part 1" PC version was released by Naughty Dog, with gamers getting to revisit the game.
With "The Last of Us" series from HBO's last episode releasing last mid-March, fans, and gamers await the second season that would probably center on the next game, and new developments on a villain character arose.
'The Last of Us' Series Villain Wants Origin Story for Character
*WARNING, SPOILERS AHEAD
A villain named Kathleen found throughout the early episodes of the show, gained notoriety when she showed her fierce leadership of a vengeful resistance group in the HBO series. She was then killed off in Episode 5 when an infected bit her and made her one of their own.
Despite her departure mid-series, she created waves for the audience and the characters around her.
In an interview by Variety with Kathleen actress, Melanie Lynskey, she said that she is down to play the villain one more time, should the showrunners decide they want an origin story behind her. Lynskey further claimed that the character's backstory is interesting, seeing as how she got into her "crazy position."
The show depicted Kathleen to have a grudge against Henry for giving her brother up and ending up being killed by the FEDRA. The Kansas City rebel leader swore to avenge her brother for Henry's actions.

This Villain Did Not Originally Appear in the Game
Despite being a juicy character with an ample amount of information behind her, Kathleen was not in the original game and may have been confusing for fans to have seen her in the spotlight for several episodes. As noted by GameSpot, the show had a knack for diverting from the source material, adding different elements for the sake of the plot.
Still, Kathleen became an iconic name in the series, but HBO or Naughty Dog has not announced any "The Last of Us" spinoffs yet, even its sequel, Season 2.
'The Last of Us' from Naughty Dog
Originally called "The Last of Us," the first game in the series gave the world one of the most significant story-based single-player games when it came out in 2013, and was a hit among gamers. Since then, it was remastered to arrive on the PlayStation 4, as well as the modern console released in 2020, the PS5.
Now, "The Last of Us" franchise is celebrating a milestone as it is turning ten, already a decade since the first game's arrival to the public.
"The Last of Us Part II" was released in 2020 and gave the world the continuation of Ellie's life, one where she was seen grown up already, continuing her journey, and still fighting against the nefarious entities in the game apart from the infected. There even are talks about the Part III coming soon, which was dispelled by the game makers for the time being.
With the game coming full circle on the PC platform recently, but being rid of bugs, complaints, and refunds from gamers, the buzz for the franchise is ever-growing. Still, this does not stop the possibility of the series expanding more, especially with villain Kathleen's significance, to probably see an origin story, as hinted by the actress.
