Call of Duty's Ricochet Anti-Cheat Team Rolls Out New Measures to Combat Unfair Play, Cheat Hardware

This includes new third-party cheating devices.

The Call of Duty Ricochet anti-cheat team has recently implemented new measures to combat unfair play.

The team is determined to combat cheating, and Engadget tells us that they have deployed a system that can detect third-party hardware cheats devices like XIM, Cronus Zen, and ReaSnow S1.

These devices have given players an unfair advantage in the game, and the Ricochet system will now warn them that they are using an unsupported device.

Continued use of these devices may result in harsh consequences ranging from mitigation to permanent bans across all Call of Duty titles. Read more.

New Tools to Make 'Call of Duty' Cheats-Free

In addition, the Ricochet team is implementing a new replay investigation tool, which captures and stores all match data in order to detect suspicious activity.

The system has already aided investigations that resulted in permanent bans. The Ricochet Anti-Cheat team has stated in a blog post that they will not tolerate cheating in any mode, including Ranked Play.

Any account found cheating may be permanently banned across all Call of Duty titles, and banned accounts' records will be removed from the Ranked Play Top 250 and other competitive leaderboards.

Limiting the Impact of Cheaters on the Game

The team is also going to employ mitigations to negatively impact cheaters' in-game experience.

The in-game mitigations are intended to be hilarious but also provide a negative experience for cheaters - and provide the team with critical info about the cheaters.

In their fight against cheating, the team has left no stone unturned, developing and deploying new techniques and technologies to combat unfair play in Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0.

New Layers of Security

In the Season 03 Anti-Cheat Progress report, the team also outlined several new layers of security and detections to protect all modes, with a particular emphasis on Ranked Play for Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0. This includes protecting against account boosting, game glitching or exploiting, and player griefing.

Activision also revealed more information about mitigations. It has already discussed Damage Shield, which allows innocent players to take fire without damage and has now gone into greater detail about the Disarm and Cloak measures.

After attempting to switch weapons, a player ends up facing their opponent with no weapon at all, as demonstrated in the Disarm demo above. Cloak, as the name suggests, makes enemies invisible.

With respect to Ranked Play, the team will automatically capture and store all match data for the highest tiers of competition for potential investigation use.

The team is also capturing match data from suspicious accounts across all multiplayer modes for easy Replay access.

The Ricochet team encourages players to report any cheating behavior they encounter, as this is helpful to the investigation process.

Reports help flag accounts for review through the system, including Replay. Players are urged to use the in-game tools to report suspicious players.
