Marvel Snap has just released its Animals Assemble season, bringing exciting new cards players can collect. The Season Pass includes Hit Monkey, a 2-Cost/0-Power card that gains more Power depending on how many cards the user has played that turn.
Hit Monkey Likely to Remain an Outlier in the Current Marvel Snap Meta
According to the story by Game Rant, although it holds the potential to be a powerhouse, Hit Monkey is unlikely to be a dominating force in the current meta due to the buff to the 5-Cost/5-Power Sandman card that now allows him to prevent opponents from playing more than one card per turn.
Since the launch of Marvel Snap's newest "Animals Assemble" season, players have eagerly anticipated the new cards and their potential meta-defining capabilities. The Season Pass offers up a plethora of animal-themed cards, as well as the newly released Hit Monkey card.
Potential Uses for Hit Monkey and How it Can Make an Impact in the Meta
Although exciting and filled with potential, this card, in particular, may have a hard time making an impression on the meta due to the common use of Sandman. Hit Monkey, a 2-Cost/0-Power card, has the "On Reveal" ability to gain +2 Power for each card the user played that turn.
This makes Hit Monkey relatively versatile, as it could gain much power with other cards like Wong, Forge, or Shuri. It could also be a great candidate for a Mr. Negative-themed deck since his ability will make Hit Monkey 0-Cost. An article by The Escapist pointed out the different weaknesses in Marvel Snap.
Utilizing Hit Monkey with the Animals Assemble Season Pass Cards
Although it has great potential, the effectiveness of Hit Monkey is limited due to the presence of Sandman. Sandman's power-preventing ability makes it difficult for players to play multiple cards in turn, limiting Hit Monkey's power if it is played after the opponent already has Sandman on the field.
To make Hit Monkey more successful, it will need to be played early in the game, as its ability is not powerful enough to compensate for being locked out by Sandman. Hit Monkey could still be a meta-defining card, but that will largely rely on how it is used with the other cards in the Animals Assemble Season Pass.

Risk of Hit Monkey Being Less Powerful in the Meta Than Cards from Past Seasons
Especially with how common Sandman appears to be, players should be ready to adjust their strategies if they decide to purchase the Season Pass. It's a risky endeavor, as the card may not be as strong as Season Pass cards in the past, but Marvel Snap is always evolving, so there could be potential for Hit Monkey to gain more power further during the season.
The presence of Sandman in competitive decks means that Hit Monkey is unlikely to be a meta-defining card at its debut like most cards from past seasons of Marvel Snap, which is a shame considering its great potential.
